iRobot Combo Review

Combo is iRobot's very first mop-and vacuum robot, and is the most attractive model of the company. Its brushed aluminum Top Performance robot vacuum piece and irobot roomba models logo are classier than the loud designs of rivals.

You can use the iRobot Home app to set up and guide your robot. The app gathers data on usage and maps of your home including furniture and obstructions. Maps and image data are only shared with iRobot if you opt-in.

It's a mop

The Combo Irobot is a clever mopping robot that combines all the advantages of the great Roomba J7+ and adds an on-board water reservoir, a tiny mopping irobot pad, and a handy robot arm that raises and lowers the pad. It can complete quite a bit of work in the 111 minutes it takes before running out of juice and automatically returning to its base station to recharge.

The model comes with the irobot roomba combo home app, meaning you can start and stop cleaning runs. It's also a nice-looking robot, with matte black plastic that does not show fingerprints or dust and an aluminum top piece that is brushed with the small iRobot logo.

It is a fantastic tool of vacuuming and has no problem crossing over large area rugs and transition strips between flooring surfaces. It can even pick up dust particles that robotic vacuums don't. However, it's not so great in mow. It's not able to eliminate dried milk stains, like, unless you send it out several times.

irobot mapping's dedicated Braava jet M6 mopping robotic cleaner, which is often available in a bundle along with the j7 plus for less than the combo Combo is a superior job of this and other tasks that are difficult. It's even able to clean up spilled wine and ketchup, though I'd advise against sending it after any type of liquid with a significant sugar content.

It's an air vacuum

It's also one of the more attractive robot vacuums with a smooth and sleek top piece that doesn't show dust or fingerprints as easily as competitors. The tiny dustbin and water tank of this robot vacuum are easy to open, but they are not the most spacious. The Combo J7+ comes with all the smarts you'd expect from iRobot. This includes map and obstacle avoidance maps that operate reliably and quickly. The mopping arm is the thing that makes this model stand out in its category. It keeps the mop pad hidden behind the vacuum, but if it spots a surface that needs mopping it lowers the pad beneath and behind the robot. This is a major improvement over other robot vacuums that require you to manually remove the mop pad to clean carpets and hard floors, or even turn the entire machine off to mop.

It's a charging station

Place your Combo Irobot on the charging station, and align the metal contacts on the base. The charging station is easy to set up and operates well. In my tests, it took a few minutes for the robot to begin charging and then make a sound when it was finished. Once the Combo best irobot vacuum and mop is fully charged, you can start mapping runs in the app to help it better understand your home. The app allows you to mark certain objects as permanent avoidances, such as lamp cords. You can also connect Alexa or Google Assistant to your robot so that you can use voice commands for it to navigate around the house.

It's a smart device

Combo irobots use acoustic sensors and onboard cameras to identify the kind of floor they are cleaning, as well as the objects that are in your home. This information is then combined with images from the robot's onboard camera as well as maps of your home, to create an individualized plan for cleaning every room. This makes it smart enough to avoid your lamp cords, sofas and other objects you wish to keep intact. As with all connected devices, there are concerns over the security of these information. iRobot however, claims that it will never sell any customer data and no images are captured without the permission of the customer.
