Carpet detection boosts power automatically when it comes into contact with rugs, and the two side brushes help pull out dirt from corners.

The mopping efficiency, while still impressive, is not as impressive. The mop rotates at a high speed and pushes down with 2.2lbs of force, effortlessly scraping away dirt and staining. I've noticed that the front arm protrudes out a bit more than other robots. This is useful when you're trying to get into difficult corners or along baseboards. The front arms can also be used to scoop up larger pieces of debris, robot vacuum and mop such as books and toys that have been damaged.

Another great feature is that the S1 Pro is one of the most quiet robot vacuums and mops I've tried. The Matrix Plus performed well at both vacuuming and mopping. Its most impressive feature is its accurate floorplan map, which it employs when cleaning. This made it a breeze for the Matrix Plus to navigate around furniture rug, furniture, and other obstacles. The X1 Omni is the most expensive robotic vacuum that is able to mop in our review, but it comes with some distinct features that are worth considering. The X1 Omni's biggest draw is its massive dock that doubles as a charging base and housing for two 4-liter water tanks, a clean sink and an automatic 2.5-liter dust bin that is automatically empties.

The base also comes with a set of control buttons that allow you to start cleaning or recall the robot or run the dock's auto-emptying process. Hold down two buttons to toggle the child lock. This is a wonderful feature for parents worried about their children messing around with the vacuum.

Like other robotic vacuums, the Omni Omni utilizes its camera to identify furniture and obstacles in its path and avoid them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.

Unfortunately, this means that the X1 Omni will sometimes get so entangled with an obstruction, such as the power cord that is draped across a rug--that it becomes stuck and ceases to function until you manually free it. This was a rare occurrence however, it was a bit frustrating since the X1 does not have an "stuck status" alert in its application.

Another possible issue is the X1 Omni's inability to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming modes during a cleaning session. You'll need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad however, mopping pads don't get cleaned or dried between uses. This could lead to mildew and robot vacuum and mop mold.

On the positive side the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who conceptualized its modern and sleek base as well as mopping pad. It's a significant departure from the utilitarian, all-black bases that are used by rivals like Roborock and iRobot, and a welcome sight in a space which is dominated by clunky, boxy units.
