Combining form and function, French-door refrigerators offer stylish double doors that open up to a spacious fridge up the top and a freezer drawer below. Special features such as through-the-door dispensers, higher-end ice machines and adjustable flex drawers make them stand out from the rest.

We asked experts like Ladina Schopf, an interior designer architect, founder, and co-founder of LS Projects, for tips on picking the right one. They looked at storage capacity, layout and energy efficiency, among other factors.

As its name suggests, the GE Profile series is aimed at those who wish to incorporate cutting-edge technologies into their kitchens. This refrigerator has it all, from the Keurig K cup coffee maker inside the door to a smart dispenser of water. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Given that this fridge costs more, I'd expect better.

Aside from that blip however, this refrigerator is a fantastic choice. It features a large freezer compartment which is uncommon for counter-depth french door fridge bottom freezer-door refrigerators. It also holds a lot of frozen food items compared to other models.

The fridge comes with 17 shelves and compartments. The refrigerator compartment is 18.5 cubic feet, which is standard for a French-door refrigerator at this price. It has a decent sized icemaker in the left door. But it's not the most spacious one I've seen.

You can adjust the shelves in both compartments to make the perfect storage solution. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS is also attractive. The LED lighting is an attractive feature. The bins for storage inside include a third shelf that can be folded down to store large items. The drawers include temperature controls that let you set them to Meat, Beverage or Deli settings. The drawers are simple to shut and open however I found the plastic's textured coatings to be a bit rough on my fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator comes with the complete set of features you'd expect from a refrigerator in this price range, including Wi-Fi and app support through GE's SmartHQ software. The app is compatible with iOS and Android devices and allows you to control your refrigerator from anywhere in the globe. It also comes with numerous options for customizing. It also gives you notifications when a door is left open, when your fridge or freezer needs to be defrosted and when it's time to change the filter.

It would be great to have GE PYE22PYNFS had Precise Fill, an option that is available in a few GE refrigerators that allows users to set the amount of cups they wish to dispense. The fridge displays a countdown timer to show you how much water is left however it's not as useful as Precise fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The Bosch French-door Refrigerator is an impressive product. It's designed to appear like it's a seamless part in your kitchen. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also features a veggie compartment which keeps vegetables and fruits fresher for longer periods, and dual compressors to preserve food. The ice maker we tested was one of the most efficient, and it produces an ice pyramid with only a little water. This fridge is perfect for a single household or kitchenette that needs a built-in appearance and top-of-the line food preservation.

This fridge was rated the top in our Refrigerators Test for a variety of reasons. The temperature of the freezer remained stable at just above 0 degrees Fahrenheit, and never moving more than a fraction an inch. This is essential to avoiding freezing burn. The fridge section of the fridge also performed well, achieving the desired temperature for initial set within a matter of hours and keeping that temperature steady over the course of our testing.

Bosch has a reputation for premium appliances which is why it's no surprise that this counter-depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance with the option of connecting to your home Wi-Fi as well as Bosch's Home Connect platform. This app allows you to monitor and control your fridge from your smartphone or tablet. The refrigerator is pricey however, it offers excellent features and capabilities at a reasonable cost.

It is important to know the limitations of the fridge. It has a limited shelf space, which means you'll require some creativity when it comes to storing large items. Also, the shelves are not completely sprillproof, and can easily be damaged or stained by sharp objects. The trays can be easily removed from the fridge. However, they must be cleaned frequently to stop the growth of mold.

LG Counter Depth french door fridge appliances online Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S counter-depth fridge is a great choice for those who require a lot of space in an extremely compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. The fridge has the standard vinterkall french door fridge/freezer review door layout, with two rows of shelving with spill-capture and a set of crisper drawers. The top right shelf can be folded down to give tall items more headroom. There's also a full-width drawer for deli and an inside water dispenser.

This refrigerator has a freezer with an ice maker making it easy to transfer the frozen ice as needed. The freezer also has clever design features, like sliding drawers that allow you to organize your belongings. It has a large bin for storing frozen food, and a separate one for ice.

Another great feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. It lets you manage the refrigerator's temperature and lighting via your smartphone. It's a good method of monitoring and managing your refrigerator, particularly if you're away from home.

But while the Smart InstaView is a neat feature, it does not necessarily improve the overall performance of the refrigerator. In fact it took longer to defrost and chill foods in this fridge than some of the others we tested. This is likely due to its greater capacity.

The doors are a different issue with this refrigerator. The sunken handles let shorter people open them from the bottom. However taller people will have a difficult time closing them without slamming. It would have been better to have front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is a great choice for those who want to combine the aesthetics of a french Door fridge lock (ai-db.science)-door refrigerator with more efficient design. Its capacity is higher than average for counter-depth models and also cools evenly. It's also less expensive than the best counter-depth refrigerator with an ice maker, which can make it an attractive option.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

If you're looking for an French door refrigerator that won't break the bank and isn't expensive, this Frigidaire is a good choice. It has a simple design that's not as striking in appearance as some of the competition however it comes with enough features to make it a solid pick. Its most notable feature is the adjustable temperature drawer that helps keep food items such as meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also has a large ice maker and a water dispenser.

Another nice feature is the "Chill Drawer" that sits above the two crisper bins. This drawer lets you redirect part of the refrigerator's cooling power directly into this area, which means you can keep food items that need extra attention. This feature can be adjusted using a slider located outside the drawer. You can also alter the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I've found that the generic settings work better than the specific ones.

During my tests, the refrigerator's temperatures stayed fairly consistent across different areas of the fridge. The temperatures in the top, bottom and middle of the fridge didn't differ significantly from 38 degrees. This is a good performance, but it doesn't quite make it to the top of our rankings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. This fridge can be paired with a smart thermostat in order to obtain more precise readings of the internal temperature of your fridge.

The exterior of the Frigidaire is made of grey-bodied stainless that has a "smudge resistant" finish. It blocks streaks and fingerprints better than other stainless steel finishes I've tried.
