It has been revealed that Persija Jakarta's planned friendly match against Atletico Madrid was canceled due to their involvement in the 2024 President's Cup. Initially, there were rumors that Persija would face Atletico Madrid on Saturday (August 3) at Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) as part of their preparations for the upcoming season. However, Persija advanced to the semifinals of the 2024 President's Cup and had to compete for third place against Persis Solo on the same day at Stadion Manahan, Solo. "It was definitely not possible because we were involved in the third-place match of the 2024 President’s Cup," Persija's Director Mohamad Prapanca told reporters. He added that Atletico Madrid could only visit on that specific date, which conflicted with Persija’s schedule. "We were ready to host them, but we had to adhere to the regulations set by our federation," Prapanca continued. Prapanca is uncertain whether Atletico Madrid will still come to Indonesia following the cancellation of the friendly. He noted that Persija had initially planned to test their strength against the Spanish giants. "I’m not sure. You should inquire with the promoter about Atletico Madrid’s visit. Regarding the planning, yes, the plan was made," Prapanca added. "But the promoter also needs to get approval from our federation and PT LIB to see if it could be arranged during the 2024 President’s Cup," he concluded.

Jaimerson Xavier will not be joining Bhayangkara FC in Liga 2. The ex-defender of Persija Jakarta and Persis Solo has opted to join PSBS Biak, which has been promoted to BRI Liga 1 2024/2025. Jaime had been with Bhayangkara FC during pre-season and even scored during a friendly match against PSIS Semarang. Nevertheless, he decided to commit to PSBS for the new season. The 34-year-old has signed a short-term contract for the upcoming season. "Everything is settled, and he will join the team now," said PSBS President Yan Permenas Mandenas in a statement. Jaime has arrived in Biak to join PSBS and is likely to be available for their match against PSM Makassar on August 16, 2024, at Stadion Kapten I Wayan Dipta, Gianyar. "Our goal is to strengthen our defense, and we hope Jaime will enhance and solidify our backline," Yan Mandenas added.
