Customers who are enthralled by this robot vacuum bagless vacuum cleaner say it's strong enough to take care of pet hair dust, dirt and dirt on any type of floor. It comes with a three-stage cleaning system and can be controlled with a smart speaker or a mobile app.

The light ring around the Clean/Power button glows solid white when it's charged, it flashes red when the battery is depleted and turns blue when looking for its Clean Base in Dirt Detect mode (more about that below).

When a room's cleaning is complete, the robot returns to its base, docking and automatically dropping the contents of its internal dustbin into the Clean Base for self-emptying. You can manually empty the bin if it is full, but this takes a long time and requires you to take the bin from the base and clean the filter.

In our tests, this robot showed outstanding suction on both carpeting and hard floors. The smart mapping system it uses is superior to other models by storing multiple maps and allowing many functions that include the ability to schedule and customize cleaning. It does not allow you to create Keep-Out Zones, or clean specific rooms, which is essential if your home has more than one floor. To get that feature, you might be interested in the Roborock Q5+ instead, that has a superior smart-mapping system and provides more customization options within its user-friendly application.

2. Shark Matrix

Shark is one of the half of home appliance conglomerate SharkNinja is a relative newcomer to the robotic vacuum market. However, the company has risen quickly in popularity thanks to its an extensive selection of affordable robots with a premium quality of construction. Their flagship model, the Matrix is a powerful all-home cleaner that boasts incredible suction capabilities and smart features.

The Shark Matrix comes with a self-emptying station which automatically empty the bag after every clean, avoiding the inconvenience of changing it manually. Like all Shark robots that are available, the Matrix can be set to run according to a set schedule or remotely activated by voice commands to provide hands-free convenience. It also has cliff sensors to avoid falling off stairs and optical encoders that measure how far it has cleaned.

While it may lack the sophisticated vSLAM mapping of the Roomba S9, the Matrix is a good option for anyone searching for a mid-priced robotic vacuum. Its cleaning path is efficient, even on carpeted floors and it provides a decent amount of dirt removal across all surfaces. It also boasts a slightly more powerful cleaning head than the S9 and a self-cleaning brushroll that's perfect for hair of pets.

Shark's app is frustratingly slow and insecure when used in conjunction with the robot. The iRobot HOME app is, on the other hand is a lot more intuitive and reliable.

3. iRobot Roomba i3

The Roomba i3 is our favorite robot vacuum model Best bagless self emptying robot vacuum due to its remarkable performance on floors that are not bare and its high-end construction. It is sturdy, able to navigate around obstacles with ease and is charged quickly. It also has a huge dustbin that is easily empty.

This Roomba model doesn't have top-mounted cameras that are able to recognize objects or look for distinctive features to keep in mind unlike some of its more premium counterparts do. It has optical sensors that scan downwards to find obstacles. It also builds up a floor plan map as it cleans and takes note of internal sensors such as wheel odometers, gyroscopes and gyroscopes. iRobot's Genius update, which adds smart mapping without increasing the price of the robot--allows you to direct it to clean specific areas with the iRobot Home app or your voice assistant.

If this Roomba is full of dirt - and it can be instructed to do so by an app or by its own docking station--it returns to its base and takes its internal trash bin and puts it into the larger external one. The docking station communicates with the robot using beacons, ensuring that they are within close proximity before it starts cleaning.

You can also schedule cleanings from the iRobot Home app or use your voice assistant to start the cleaning of any space that requires an immediate fix. Its dual rubber brushrolls are designed to remove dirt, pet hair and other stubborn debris. With its reactive sensor technology, you don't need to manually adjust the height of the head or suction force. Take a look at the Shark iQ Plus and Roborock S6 maxV if your preference is an experience that is more customizable.

4. IRobot Roomba i5

This robotic vacuum is among the top self-emptying ones available. It comes with a dirt bin that automatically emptys when it is full into the base of the robot. It utilizes its own patent-pending Dirt Detect Technology to help it clean up dirtier areas of the room. Its dual multi-surface rubber brush adjusts to your floor's surface to loosen and remove dirt that is hard to remove. This is complemented by powerful suction that draws up dirt and dust and a mopping tank that releases liquid solutions to thoroughly clean your floors.

It's a great option for floors with no carpet and is even a great option in small amounts of carpet that is low-pile. However, it doesn't clean pet hair as well as some other models and may struggle with large pieces of debris such as cereal as the dirt bin gets full. It's also a bit sluggish in its movement and can get caught up in things like electrical cords or rug tassels. Its battery life is good and it can charge fairly quickly, however.

The iRobot Combo i5 goes to the next step by adding mopping capabilities. The robot can be instantly transformed into a multi-surface mop/vacuum robotic by simply swapping the included Roomba Combo cleaner bin. It navigates rooms in neat rows and can be guided by the iRobot app or by voice commands when paired with a smart assistant device.

It's better at cleaning bare floors and carpets with low pile than the iRobot Roomba E5 and has an allergen-trapping HEPA filter. It's not as sophisticated as the Shark AI Robot, and it has more components to clean regularly. It's more solid and has a longer battery life, however, it costs more to run.

5. iRobot Roomba i7

The Roomba i7 is unique in that it has an automatic dirt removal system that is integrated into its base. When it's docked, the hose inside the Clean Base automatically sucks debris from the bin and into a custom bag that iRobot calls its Smart Maps. It's a simple, clean way to empty the bin of the bagless robot vacuum cleaner vacuum. You don't have to lift the old bin and let it go around (which could result in a small dust explosion). This top-rated model comes with a small operating cost. You'll need to replace the bag every time it fills up. They are cheap however you might be hesitant about throwing them to waste.

Once you get your i7+ and its Clean Base installed you can start it cleaning right away or tell it to take two exploratory non-vacuuming runs first to create a floor plan of the area. Once you have an outline of the space you can use iRobot's app to label rooms and build virtual barriers. You can also define specific cleaning times for certain rooms.

The i7+ robot vacuum is a top-of-the-line model. It's capable and comes with all the features you'd want in a home automation system, but it's expensive and difficult to justify. The competition is a lot cheaper and includes the likes of the Roborock S7, which feels more durable, has lower recurring costs and has a longer runtime and is more effective on bare floors than the i7+. Unless you're absolutely satisfied with having a continuous map of your entire house We suggest looking for a different option.
