Whether you're looking for a buggy to take on woodland walks or strolls on the main streets, a pushchair that is all-terrain with excellent maneuverability is a great fit. These models typically come with large wheels and a suspension system that provides a smooth ride on rough terrain.

The majority of them are suitable from birth and include a lie-flat seat or a baby carrycot. They also have foam-filled never-flat tyres to reduce maintenance.

Suspension

A genuine all-terrain pushchair has a good suspension that is designed to be smooth and comfortable on rough terrain. This will help your child feel more relaxed and at ease. The wheels should also be large and typically be puncture-proof to protect against damage caused by sharp sticks or rocks.

There are a wide range of all-terrain pushchairs with three wheels available, which offer a superb off-road capability. They are great if you live in the countryside or regularly take a walk on uneven, rough ground. These are more robust and durable than a standard pushchair. They come with special features, like big puncture-proof tires that can handle the toughest surfaces. They tend to be quite wide, so could be difficult to maneuver in tight spaces or aisles in shops.

These models usually come with larger back wheels than standard pushchairs, making them better at handling bumpy, off-road terrain and providing a smooth ride for your child. A lot of models also have a robust suspension that is puncture-proof so they can be used on grass, woodland paths or forest paths, gravel roads and market town cobbles.

It's not as pliable like the other all-terrain pushchairs listed on this list but it does handle the terrain that is hilly and has an expansive one-handed fold, which is perfect if you're planning to use the pushchair for long walks or trips to the countryside. It is also suitable for infants and comes with a large, extendable canopy, an adjustable handlebar, and a hugely-sized basket.

Storage

There are excellent all-terrain pushchairs designed for parents who want to take their child off-road but don't want to take on Ben Nevis. They offer the best of both. Choose a model that has an excellent all-terrain capability, solid suspension, and large puncture-proof wheels. However, they are designed in the traditional pushchair style with reversible seats and all carrycot options.

UPPAbaby's well-known Ridge all-terrain pushchair is an excellent illustration of this. It offers excellent suspension, an easy one-handed fold and a huge 10kg basket, but it also comes with features for parents that are child-friendly, like an adjustable handlebar, hand-operated brake on the right side and a huge covered storage space. The hood can be removed, and washed with cool soapy-water to prevent mildew or mould.

If you plan to use your all-terrain stroller off the road and on the road, you should consider air-filled tires rather than rubber grips. They will give you an easier ride on rough terrain and will make it easier to navigate through tight spaces.
