Like its name implies, GE’s Profile series is aimed at people who want to incorporate cutting-edge technology into their kitchen. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. This fridge is expensive, so I expected better.

Aside from that blip, this fridge is a great option. It features a large freezer compartment which is uncommon for counter-depth French-door fridges. It also holds plenty of frozen food, which is a big difference from other models.

The fridge has 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment offers 18.5 cubic feet of space, which is on par for the size of a French door refrigerator that costs this much. It has a decent sized refrigerator with an ice maker in the left door. However it's not the biggest one I've seen.

You can alter the shelving in both compartments to create a customized storage layout for whatever you have to keep. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS also looks attractive. The LED lighting is an attractive accent. The storage bins in the door have a third shelf which can be folded down to store tall items. The drawers include temperature controls that let you set them to Meat, Beverage or Deli settings. They're easy to open and close, but I found their plastic textured coatings a bit hard on the fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator has all the features you would expect from a refrigerator within this price range. This includes Wi-Fi as well as app support, and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app, which is available for iOS and Android devices allows you to control your refrigerator from anywhere in the world, and has a ton of customization options. Designed to look like a seamless part of your kitchen, Bosch's French-door refrigerator is a standout. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. The top right shelf can be folded down to give taller items more room. There's also a full-width storage drawer for food items and an internal water dispenser.

One of the nice aspects of this refrigerator is that its ice maker is inside the freezer, which makes it easy to move ice into the fridge to use as required. The freezer also features thoughtful design features, like sliding drawers that allow you to sort your things. It also comes with a large bin that can hold plenty of frozen food items and a separate container for storing ice.

Smart InstaView panel is a cool feature of the refrigerator. You can manage the temperature, lighting, and more of your fridge from your smartphone. It's a simple method to keep track of your refrigerator and manage it, especially when away from home.

The Smart InstaView feature is neat, but it doesn't necessarily improve the performance of the fridge. In fact it took longer to defrost and chill food in this fridge than other refrigerators we tried. This is likely due to the greater capacity.

The doors are another problem with this fridge. The handles with a sunken design allow shorter people to open them from the bottom. However, taller people still have a hard time closing them without slamming them. It would have been much better if they came with a front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a good choice for those who want to combine the benefits of a fridge with a French door with a more efficient layout. Its capacity is superior for a counter-depth model, and it cools evenly and has a good layout. It's also a little less than the most expensive counter depth refrigerator that comes with an ice maker, which makes it an attractive option.

Temperatures in the top and bottom of the fridge didn't stray significantly from 38 degrees, and the middle of the fridge was within a degree of 36. This is a solid performance, but doesn't quite make it to the top of our rankings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also combine this fridge with a smart thermometer for more precise measurements of your fridge's temperature.

The exterior of the Frigidaire is made of gray-bodied stainless with a "smudge resistant" finish. It does a great job of removing streaks and fingerprints even when compared with glossier stainless steel finishes on other appliances I've tested.
