The Best Self-Empting Robot Vacuum For Pet Hair

The amount of hair your pets shed and the types of floors you have to deal with will determine which vacuum is right for you. Certain models also come with advanced features, such as self-emptying and obstacle detection.

This is the best robovac for pet hair model of Roomba. It has all the bells, whistles and features. It is equipped with a state-of-the-art AeroForce cleaning system, which has twice the suction power as other models. It can easily clean pet fur, lint, and local dirt, as well mold spores, large chunks of debris.

It is smarter than older Roomba models, with advanced mapping technology and local a more advanced memory system. It can also be operated remotely using the iRobot HOME app.

The app allows you to create digital "Keep-Out Zones' that prevent robots from entering certain areas of your home. It's a great choice for those with kids or pets and need to keep the mess to a minimum. It didn't perform as well as the Samsung Powerbot R7070 or Neato Botvac connected in our pet hair test.

iRobot Roomba 990

This is one of the most powerful robot vacuums we have seen in our tests and a very popular option. It is great at cleaning hardwood floors and carpets. It can also pick up pet hair, crumbs and dirt. Its Power Boost mode increases suction automatically, which helps pull those pesky rugs from hiding.

The iRobot App lets you control the Roomba remotely to schedule cleaning times, and create virtual barriers to prevent it from entering spaces you don't wish it to. It can detect the stairs and navigate them, and it can return to the docking stations to recharge when its battery runs out. This model, unlike previous Roomba models can remember where it left off and resume a previously finished clean. It also runs in straight lines, thereby increasing the efficiency of its coverage.

Roomba 960S from iRobot

The latest model from iRobot's robotic vacuum can quickly and easily take dirt off carpeted surfaces as well as hard flooring. It's among the smarter robots we've tested, due to its mapping capabilities and the ability to resume the place it left off following the full charge (which eliminates the annoyance caused by the traditional Roomba's random navigation).

It also uses the new mapping technology, which allows it to find rooms and navigate more easily. It can be placed under the majority of sofas, but not all of them, and is able to avoid getting caught in power cords or other obstacles.

You could, for instance put a virtual wall next to your dog's food or water bowls. It also has a spot-cleaning button which vacuums a circular space about 4 feet in diameter.

7. Roomba iRobot 990

The squat black and brown Roomba appears very similar to other robot vacuum cleaner on the market. (That's not a bad thing). It comes with standard features like a spinning brush that helps with edges and corners. It also includes two virtual wall barriers, that help it navigate through a space.

The robot is updated with maps and navigation capabilities that let it create a map as it cleans. This lets it know when it's finished with one room and then move on to the next.

The app allows you to create a cleaning schedule and control the vacuum remotely while away from home. It did well in our tests of pet hair and picked up only 0.2 pounds of hair on mid- and low-pile carpets as well as hardwood. It was able to fit under our sofas, and the space was smaller than any other model we've tested.

8. iRobot Roomba 980XP

The suction power of this machine, the HEPA filter and its battery life of two hours make it an ideal option for those with significant cleaning requirements. The top-of-the-range robot from iRobot is available for PS900. It is equipped with CarpetBoost, which gives it incredible cleaning power. It is the smartest and most powerful Roomba ever built and does an amazing job on both hard floors and carpets.

It utilizes vision sensors to perform VSLAM (Visual Simultaneous Mapping and Localization). It then finds landmarks like shelves, chairs, and beds. It also creates maps to help it keep track of where it is.

It also uses cameras to identify dirt spots and can increase suction power in these areas. It can be started from the app, when you are working. It will automatically vacuum and clean. It's also excellent at picking up pet hair. Our tests showed that it picked up 0.2 pounds of pet hair on midpiles high-pile, low-pile and hardwood.

Roomba 960XL by iRobot

The 980XL robot is a high-end model, and the additional features make it worth the price. It has a more advanced mapping system than the 900-series and it is more efficient in cleaning both on carpet and hard floors. It is also possible to start it from a distance.

It also comes with an efficient cleaning system that features 10 times the power-lifting suction of older Roombas and uses a dual-swiveling brush to reach corners and even under furniture. It can clean your floors automatically after vacuuming.

It's not the most quiet, however, particularly when using the carpet boost feature. We measured it at 80 dB, which is about the same as an aircraft that is flying in the direction of props. Luckily, you can put up an electronic barrier to keep it from sensitive areas like the dog's water and food bowls.
