BMW Smart Key

Most new cars on the market today have keyless fobs that allow drivers to lock, unlock and start their vehicle without needing to insert the physical key. However they can be heavy and are one more item that drivers could break or lose.

BMW has added a brand new high-tech twist to their current phone-as-key technology by introducing the Display Key. Learn all about it in this blog post.

Keyless Entry

With BMW Digital Key, you can lock and unlock your car by tapping your smartphone. To begin, download the app from the Apple Wallet or Google Play Store and follow the instructions on screen. After you have linked your mobile phone that is compatible with your BMW Connected Account, you can share your account with up to five family members or friends who also use the app. If they accept your invitation they will be able to unlock your vehicle and start it without needing the physical key. The feature works even if your phone is in airplane mode with or without the data connection.

BMW Smart Key is more than a simple key to unlock your car. It can be used to activate the trunk as well as control the HVAC, check your fuel range and much more.
