A new mom has claimed she was unable to recognize herself by the end of her pregnancy after her nose doubled in size.

Gabriella Kelly, from Richmond, Virginia, shared a video on social media documenting her pregnancy changes by comparing herself at both four weeks pregnant and 37 weeks pregnant.

In the clip, the 31-year-old explained how her nose and mouth both doubled in size by her final trimester - leaving her feeling like a 'totally different person.'

The so-called 'pregnancy nose' is believed to result from an increase in hormones which leads to the dilation of blood vessels and creates more blood flow to certain areas of the body.

However, the new mom said that after sharing the observation online she was inundated with messages from trolls - with some comparing her to the evil queen in Snow White.

Gabriella explained that at the beginning of the pregnancy she was a little nauseous but had lots of energy up until around 20 weeks when she broke out in spots and her face began to swell.

'I had no idea my body could change like that,' she shared.

'The pregnancy started out great. I wasn't tired at all. At 20 weeks or so, I started to change a lot.

'I began to break out, and my nose was not the same size, and my mouth was kind of swollen.

'My nose doubled in size. My face was just truly not myself.

'I took some pictures with my husband's grandma and when we looked at the pictures, I was like, "I don't look like myself at all."

'I didn't really recognize myself by the end - I looked very different. My nose and mouth just looked so weird and swollen.'

Gabriella began posting her pregnancy journey online in May after previously having a  miscarriage.

The mom welcomed her healthy baby at 8lbs 5oz four months ago and since then her nose has now shrunk back to its normal size again.

But, despite this, after posting online she found trolls flooded to her comment section with mean comments about her swollen appearance.

Gabriella posted the video online with the caption: 'I was a totally different person at the end of my pregnancy. Anyone here was the same??'

Thousands of users flocked to say they were 'flabbergasted' by the change and some even speculated that it was a 'different person.'

But some cruel viewers discussed that it had 'put them off' having children.

One, who made a comparison to the evil queen in Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, commented: 'I thought she was going to ask me to take a bite of a poison apple at the end.'

One person wrote: 'Why did it age you?'

Another added: discuss 'Omg I would sue my baby if it made my face change that much.'

Someone else wrote: 'I refuse to believe this is the same person.'

One, who made a comparison to the evil queen (pictured) in Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, commented: 'I thought she was going to ask me to take a bite of a poison apple at the end'

However, others thanked Gabriella for raising awareness about it or said they too had suffered similar.

One put: 'I never got pregnancy nose! Thank goodness omg this is wild! You're doing great moms!'

A second wrote: 'I can't believe the horrible comments. Please ignore them - you did a beautiful thing.'

Another said: 'I'm so terrified of this.'

Reflecting since, Gabriella said: 'I was trying to show the full pregnancy journey up to having my baby. That video went crazy. I wasn't expecting that.

'On the internet there are so many mean people who think it's okay to come to someone and judge them or say mean things about their bodies or how they look.

'It's such a vulnerable time for moms, pregnancy isn't easy. We're always scared of everything, thinking "the baby isn't moving" or "am I going to make it?"

'I wasn't very comfortable with it but at the end I just wanted one thing which was my baby being born healthy and alive.

'I searched "pregnancy nose" and there were other women who had a swollen face who were way different in their pregnancy than before so I thought "okay, it's not only me."

'People come at you to say mean things and I don't know what gives anyone the right to do that.'

She now hopes to encourage other moms to look after themselves and not let mean comments get to them since their baby will be all that matters

'I'd say to every mom out there who isn't feeling themselves or looking the way they were before pregnancy and it's affecting them, it's a temporary thing,' the mom concluded

Elsewhere, the mom also revealed she was given a 'push present' by her loving husband of three years, coming home from the hospital to see a Nespresso Creatista Pro coffee machine on the table.

She now hopes to encourage other moms to look after themselves and not let mean comments get to them since their baby will be all that matters.

Gabriella said: 'My husband was so good to me throughout the pregnancy as he knew how I was suffering.

'I'd say to every mom out there who isn't feeling themselves or looking the way they were before pregnancy and it's affecting them, it's a temporary thing.

'At the end of our pregnancy we get to meet our precious baby who will look at us and love us the way we are.

'My nose is now back to the way it was. A week after, I still had a swollen nose and mouth but by the end of the month it wasn't swollen anymore. It gradually went back down.

'When our baby looks at us now and smiles and recognizes us, it's the most amazing thing. That's all that matters.'
