The side effects

Inform patients that AMBIEN may affect psychomotor function the following day, particularly if it is consumed in high doses, or with alcohol or other CNS depressants. Inform them to refrain from driving or other tasks that require full awareness until they are sure that AMBIEN has worn off. Check out the WARNINGS and PRECAUTIONS.

Remind patients to take med ambien only when they are comfortable staying at home for the entire day (7-8 hours) prior to having to get up for work or other events, and to consume it in conjunction together with food. It is also advised that patients do not drink alcohol that evening or when taking AMBIEN.

Patients suffering from mild to moderate or moderate hepatic impairments do not get rid of AMBIEN as quickly as normal subjects; hepatically impaired patients should be given reduced doses (see DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION for Use In Specific Populations].
