Saab Key Programming

saab ignition key cars manufactured since 1994 feature an immobilizer mechanism based on coded keys. A new transponder is required for addition of an additional key, and special programming. This is usually handled by the dealer using a Tech2 diagnostic tool.

Transponder key

The transponder key is a key with an electronic chip that sends a signal to the car when it is inserted into ignition. The car then checks to see whether the signal is the same as the one on the key.
