The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.

It's still a great option for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and works while you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for a wet one in minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets but it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it will learn your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robot vacuum cleaner best vacuum/mop combination.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competitors' compact models This robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our reviews. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an easy mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device which could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit costly but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and some extra cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and best robot hoover Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the automatic vacuum and mop robot's dust bin, fills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also has a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the house based on how dirty those areas tend to be.

If you own a larger home, it's worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice command. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have number of furniture. For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot hoover and mop vacuum to resume where it left off could be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using a single pad and a reciprocating movement that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app also provides access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It features a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and clever combs for removing pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
