Nespresso Coffee Machines

Nespresso coffee makers are compact and small unlike drip coffee machines. They are black in color and can vary in price and complexity. Some include a milk froth for latte art and can be connected to the app used by the company to manage recipes and receive descaling notifications.

The Original Line

The Original line of pod-only machines includes the elegant Citiz and the Essenza Mini. Both models are pierced by the capsule, and then pump hot water at high pressure, and produce an espresso or lungo. The Original machines use 19 bar of pressure, which is more than the 15 to 18 bar pumps found in the more expensive Vertuo models.

The Vertuo machines produce a foam that is richer and thicker than the crema created by the Original machines. The crema is more than just froth, though--as the Spruce says, it can account for up to 25% of espresso's flavor. The Original line is more expensive and comes with Creatista or Lattissima espresso machines with built-in milk frothers that can make lattes and cappuccinos with the press of the button.

The Lattissima Line

This line is ideal for those who need an appliance that can make cappuccinos lattes and other milky coffee drinks. It comes with three user-friendly recipes and its 4.2-ounce milk container is removable and dishwasher safe. It is also lightweight and easy to store and move in small spaces. Some users claim that it's not as intuitive as other Nespresso machines.

Its jug has drink-specific lines etched into it, so you can choose the beverage you'd like to prepare before the machine is heating up. It has a sensor which stops steaming at the moment it is unable to make milk.

The Lattissima One offers a great value for money. It's available in four colors: porcelain white, dark gray and silky-white. The machine is easy to clean and has a a minimalist aesthetic that won't take up too much space in small spaces. The machine is also moderately priced, with a retail price of $385/PS279

It has an automatic drip tray similar to the OriginalLine models. This tray will catch any loose ground when you pour espresso. It's a nice feature to reduce the mess, Nespresso Maestria and helps to prevent spills that could spoil the flavor of your beverage.

The Pro and Gran Lattissima both have a larger water tank than the Lattissima One, allowing them to hold more water before needing to refill. These two models also have a quicker heat-up time (as little as 15 seconds for an espresso and 25 seconds for a lungo) and have an enhanced hot water function for making tea or iced coffee.

The only real downside to the Lattissima is the difficulty in changing the consistency and thickness of your milk foam. It only works with skim or almond milk. Sorry vegans and those who are not tolerant to dairy. Its frothing wand can also be tricky to clean and is a common complaint from Nespresso owners. The Lattissima Pro or Gran Lattissima has a self-cleaning feature that scrubs the milky interior of the frothing device after each use.

The Vertuo Line

A Nespresso Vertuo machine makes a small cup of coffee that's perfect for those who love espresso and prefer a quick strong drink. Each capsule has a barcode along its rim that can be read by the machine's software to determine what size beverage it will create. Nespresso uses a unique extraction technology to ensure you get the best flavor from each Vertuo pod.

Vertuo Line has a variety of drinks including Ristretto, Espresso, Lungo (mini espresso), Americano, and Cappuccino. The machines can be combined with the Nespresso Aeroccino Milk Frother to make frothy cappuccinos and lattes.

Each Vertuo Line coffee machine heats quickly and is ready for brewing in less than 30 seconds. They use a smaller water tank than the Original Line machines and require less maintenance. There are a variety of models available, so you can choose one that is compatible with your home's style and budget.
