UPVC Replacement Door Handles

Over time the handles on your doors will wear out and need to be changed. It is important to keep the same dimensions as the handles you have previously replaced when replacing them.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever or lever door handle is a contemporary handle that can be put in on doors that are new or replacement. This type of handle is available in a variety of designs and finishes. A number of manufacturers make this handle including Avocet, ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The uPVC/Composite door handles are made of sturdy materials and are ideal for multi-point lock doors which require a robust design. The handles are inline, and use the same spindle and screws to secure them. They can be easily installed on any uPVC/Composite door.

The design of the sprung lever allows the handle to be set and angled to provide a comfortable grip and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested to 200,000 cycles. This ensures that the quality of finish and performance is maintained over time. The sprung lever can be cut to fit more locks. This is particularly useful for doors with narrower frames, in which the cylinder is further back. A shorter lever is an ideal choice for doors that have latches that can be operated by a thumb turn inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc functions differently than lever handles on doors. These handles are operated by one spindle, or two spindles, either inline or offset. They are generally used on replace upvc door handle double glazed doors. They come in many variations & finishes.

The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in a variety of finishes, including White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to corrosion. This gives the handle a high performance and durability to serve the purpose it was designed for.

All of the UPVC lever pad styles for handles come with a spindle and screws which allow them to be fitted on an existing or new uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixation centres allow for a wider handle, which is often a benefit when replacing a window handle an old or damaged multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers have a spring, which solves the issue of door handles that move out of the horizontal position when not being used.

When selecting a replacement UPVC handle and spindle it is important to match the dimensions of the PZ of the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC door. This measurement is also referred to as the handle centre or 'cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect to match the appropriate handles.

Once you have the proper PZ size, you'll have to ensure that the handle lever pads and push pads are a suitable shape for the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant handles that you need for your doors. These are typically of a round or square shape with an internal lever and external push pad.

The majority of UPVC lever pads we sell are sprung, meaning that they will return to their horizontal position when they are not in use, rather than hanging out and possibly securing in the frame. This helps prevent the draughts and cold air from entering a home. The majority of UPVC lever pad style handles come in both left and right handed versions which allows them to be put on either side of doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other types of doors. Cylinder locks are operated with a key that unlocks the cylinder case. This exposes pins that can be aligned with those inside the lock, and permit them to rotate the revolving camera, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins, with both internal and external doors typically needing different levels of security.

Selecting the right cylinder for your needs is essential; it depends on the way your doors and window handle replacement are utilized. For instance, exterior doors should be fitted with an extra secure cylinder, whilst internal doors can be secured with a standard cylinder. Some cylinders have extra features that increase security, for instance, anti-drill or anti bump properties.

A euro cylinder must be properly measured to ensure it is the correct size for your door. The cylinder must be measured from the screw hole in the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn if there is one. It is best to do this while the lock is in place, but if this is not possible, you can remove it to take measurements. A cylinder that is protruding beyond the handle and escutcheon may be susceptible to attacks like lock snapping, so it is essential that it is not too long.

The design of the latest cylinders comes with anti-drilling as well as bump resistance features. They are designed to decrease attacks by forcing cylinders to rotate in a new direction. This will help to stop the attack and ensure your doors are secure.

Some cylinders are designed to resist snapping. This is a typical attack on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the lock's break line and then the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is a lot faster and easier to achieve than opening the door handle replacements with a multipoint lock and leaves little evidence of a break-in, which could hinder the insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is located inside the base of your door handle backplate providing a sprung solution and returning the multipoint lock handles back to their normal position after use. Previously a lot of these types of handle didn't have a spring built into them, and as a result, they are more likely to slide or drop once the locking mechanism is disengaged. This simple feature is one of the best methods to correct this issue and is an effective way to keep your upvc doors from getting stuck in the open or closed position, as these aren't always simple to close manually.

These spring cassettes have been specifically made for use with sprung multipoint locks but they won't work with multipoint handles that are not sprung and you must have a custom hole cut into the backplate to allow them to fit (please see image for technical diagram). These cassettes can be used as a replacement to damaged or missing cassettes that are in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are available as one unit. They feature a square cut out that can accommodate an 8mm shaft.

These spring cassettes provide an excellent value solution for the problem of door handles that are sagging. They are simple to put in and will prolong the lifespan of your uPVC doors.
