Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our bare floor tests They're also particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our first choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great option for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also quiet and operates while you are at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto vacuum and mop-emptying dock, however. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors that help it stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and offer better cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a carpeted area, which helps prevent cross-contamination. It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' boxes this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our tests. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in mornings prior to work or at night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however it's more expensive and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, best Robot Hoover which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the house based on how dirty those areas are.

If you have a bigger home, you should consider selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to instruct the robot vacuum that mops on which part of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice command. A stairway mode is useful if you own a large furniture. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.
