Bedside Crib and Travel Cot

Bedside cribs are a type of cot that is attached to the bed's side. They typically have one side that can be put down to make it easier to reach and some even have an incline setting that's perfect for reflux babies.

MFM test subject Georgina said that the crib was simple to put together and the directions were extremely easy to follow. It was a fast construction. It also folds down to a compact size and comes with a handy bag for transport.

Easy to assemble

They also tend to be lighter, which makes them more transportable. Georgina one of our MFM home testers, praised the Maxi-Cosi Lora for being "super easy to put together, with clear instructions and easy zips." The crib can also function as a travel cot and comes with a convenient bag for when you're on the move. It has multiple mesh openings for ventilation and its height-adjustable allows it to fit on any mattress.

Some cribs with a bedside feature the option of a side panel that can be removed to allow you to be able to easily reach your baby without stepping out of the bed. This is a great solution for breastfeeding mothers or parents who want to be with their baby throughout the night, but do not want to risk co-sleeping (which is associated to a higher risk of SIDS).

A bedside crib allows you to monitor your little one in the comfortable bed. It's an excellent option for new mums recovering from a C-section since you can easily lift your infant towards you to feed them at the night or change their nappies without getting out of your bed. The most cozy cribs come with mesh sides that allow you to observe your baby's growth.

It's also extremely easy to assemble - Georgina who participated in our MFM tests was able to put it together quickly and didn't even need to consult the instructions. It is also a great travel cot. It folds flat and easily fits into bags.

The Next2me Magic, shortlisted for best bedside cots Cot, Crib, or Moses Basket in the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards, has a larger capacity, but it is small and simple to attach to your bed. Georgina found it straightforward to assemble too, although she was not convinced that the zips could have been more clearly described on the instruction sheet.

Easy to clean

Find cribs with mattress covers that can be washed with the machine while looking at bedside cribs or travel cots. This will keep it clean and free of dribbles, spit-up, and leaky diapers. You should also choose a model that is easily disassembled so you can clean and sanitise all the nooks.

This is essential, as it will ensure that all germs and dirt have been removed. Check that the sides of the crib are securely attached to ensure that your baby won't fall down or get trapped.

Aside from being easy to clean, you'll need an infant crib that is a comfortable place for your baby and is compatible with your bed.
