Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum can keep your floors clean enough to reduce the frequency of manual hoovering. Look for one that offers excellent navigation, is able to clean corners and stairs, and has a large dust bin that needs emptying only periodically.

There are also models that clean and charge on their own, a feature that may be essential for those who have pets or children. The top performers in our tests have excellent ability to overcome obstacles.

1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling, the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ a great option for those who want a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of having to empty their dust bin manually when it is full.

Both robots do well picking up surface debris off carpets and hard floors, and they're excellent in getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ does not have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or other top-rated robots we tested. It can be stuck on power cords and socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces like rug and hardwood.

iRobot suggests cleaning up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or other items it might come across. It's also a good idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean so that they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or the battery is low it will return to its docking station and automatically empties its dirt into the station's dust bin and then resumes cleaning the area where it began. The battery's lifespan is around an hour-and-a-half of continuous usage. It takes about three hours to fully charge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line, and it is equipped with the most recent features. It is self-charging and self-navigating, but the most significant feature is the self-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, which allows it to identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can direct your robot vacuum cleaner on sale using the app or by voice.

The i7+ is faster and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, is its self-emptying dustbin that eliminates a major source of maintenance and reduces the amount of time spent cleaning.

We were also impressed with the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room, and vacuum a particular area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. Once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+, such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a world of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It is powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in most homes, but also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system traps allergens and releases cleaner air back into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives bristles made of nylon that are stiff into carpet to collect large particles and fine dust. It has three suction modes that can be adapted to the task. It quickly switches from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum and back again.

This model has a dock that can charge the Dyson to 100% within 3.5 hours. It also gives an easy access to two attachments as well as an wand. This is a huge improvement over older Dysons models, that require a long charge and are a pain to store.

The main drawback of the V10 is its short running time. Its marketing claims that it can provide up to 60 minutes of run time are not true, as CR's testing shows. One of iRobot's most adored robot vacuums The 694 is a basic model that's a good choice for people who don't want to invest too much money on a robot. It's capable of sucking up most debris types and sizes during our testing, and it often passes over the same areas multiple times to get a really thorough clean. Its flat front end helps it reach into corners and along the walls' edges, which is a nice addition.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it isn't equipped with the mapping capability of more advanced models like our top picks and the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. It can get stuck on phone cords or low furniture and often runs out of power before returning to its original location.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects, as it has fewer components that require regular maintenance and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and is better at maneuvering itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and can charge faster.

The RoboVac X8 is a slick RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of purposes, because it has a longer battery life, the ability to change its suction power mode on its own and comes with physical boundary strips, and is operated by your phone's voice assistant. It is also more durable and has a more powerful motor, and performs notably better on floors that are bare and carpets with low pile, while offering a wider range of automation options.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a name is found on all kinds of home electronics, so it comes as no surprise that they're one of the Top Rated Robot Vacuum robot vacuum and mop manufacturers. Jet Bot AI+ has an advanced onboard technology that allows to navigate and avoid obstacles.

The app offers a variety of options for customizing your robotic hoovers cleaner. These include virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior modifications, docking frequency settings and more. It's easy to understand and user-friendly, as is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86% of it. However, it wasn't particularly well at avoiding taller objects like cords and socks which was a disappointment. It's also more expensive than the other models we tested which could be a problem for some shoppers.
