The best automatic vacuum cleaner Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention. It leaves your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

Be sure to regularly inspect your robot's brushes for hair tangled and large particles and clean them as needed. Some models will automatically empty their onboard dust bin into a larger one at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They have motors that are top-of-the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the most powerful model) they employ smart mapping to create detailed floorplans that avoid obstacles like furniture legs. The robots also feature Carpet Boost, a feature that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a good deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also very quiet and can be used when you're at work or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle however. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to provide better cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to remove and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm is ideal for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a good cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant, circular design that looks like a regular Roomba rather than the compact models this mop and robot auto vacuum and mop is among the most attractive designs in our reviews. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop to score 100% in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has an easy mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work or in the evening when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose automatic vacuum cleaner and mop that's extremely powerful however, it's going to cost you more and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features to help you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot employs the combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than its more expensive competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also comes with an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house depending on how dirty those areas tend to be.

If you own a larger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to inform the robot vacuums best of which area of your home must be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. Finally the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than the price suggests. It's a pro at cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or set up a spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app also grants access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
