Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum can keep your floors tidy enough to reduce the frequency of hoovering manually. Choose one that has an easy navigation, can sweep corners and stairs and also has a large dust bin that needs emptying only once in a while.

There are models that can mop and charge themselves this is an option that is essential for families with children or pets. A majority of the top performers in our tests have excellent obstacle avoidance.

1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ a great choice for people who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience but don't mind having to empty their dust bin manually when it fills up.

Both robots are good in removing dirt and dust particles on floors and carpets and are able to maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart maps of your home that help the i3+ navigate and clean up efficiently. However unlike the i7+ or other top rated robots we evaluated the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles which means it can be stuck on things like socks or power cords and it may have trouble navigating across surface transitions, such as from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot suggests that you clear areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, including clearing out any toys or clutter it might encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean so that they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically takes the dirt out of the docking station's external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for approximately an hour and a half of continuous use, and takes around three hours to recharge.

2. Roomba from iRobot

The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line and comes with the latest features. It's self-charging, self-navigating and the Most expensive Robot vacuum crucial feature of all -- it comes with a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 automatic floor cleaners plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that lets it map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot using voice or via the app.

The i7+ is faster and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin that eliminates the main sources of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning session and move around the room, and even vacuum an area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. After connecting we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world of vacuums that are cordless and feel like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model is an old-fashioned sports car. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered with seven cells of energy-dense Lithium-ion batteries, which produces power that is not fading for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system traps allergens and releases cleaner air back into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpets to trap large crumbs and fine dust. It has three suction modes that can be adjusted to the task. It swiftly switches from floor vac to handheld vacuum and back.

The model comes with a dock that can charge the Dyson to 100% in 3.5 hours. It also gives easy access to 2 attachments and a Wand. This is a huge improvement over earlier Dysons, which require a lengthy charge and are a pain to store.

The V10's biggest drawback is its limited run time. As CR's tests show, its marketing claims of up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is an average not an extraordinary time to run a battery-powered cordless vac. This is enough time to clean the typical home but not enough to get into every corner. (A second pass generally works). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeably superior for carpet floors with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have lots of money to spend on an expensive robot cleaner. It was able to remove most types of debris and sizes during our testing and often went over the same area multiple times to ensure an extensive clean. Its flat front allows it to reach corners and edges of walls.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and guide you through your home. It's not equipped with the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, including our top picks, i3+EVO and j7+ Series. As a result, it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't as sturdy, and frequently will run out of battery before making it back to its original location.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in all aspects, as it has fewer parts that need regular cleaning It also comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and is better at moving itself. It also has a larger dustbin, and charges more quickly.

The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for most purposes, as it has a better battery life, the ability to change the suction power mode by hand, comes with physical boundary strips, and is operated by your phone's voice assistant. It is also more durable, has a more powerful motor, and performs notably better on both bare floors and carpets with a low pile, as well as providing a wider array of automation features.
