It also has a camera mounted on the front to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also comes with an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home based on how dirty those areas are.

For larger homes, it's worth opting for one with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one specific area of your home by using the app or voice controls. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be very useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than the price suggests. It does a stellar job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to create a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app offers a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
