The Best Robot Hoover

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good value for those whose home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a sleek, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. 3. IRobot Roomba X40

The robot cleaner vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks much like a Roomba model than the boxy models from the competition. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuum reviews vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work or at night when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient, but it will cost you more and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the amount of dirt they are.

If you have a bigger home, it's worth selecting a model with a spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your home must be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have lot furniture. Also, a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would imagine from its price. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance. The app has a range of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction, as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans the area.
