World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to an item are a way to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it may increase the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level, and also boost other stats.

Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specified amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its stats are increased in value. The value is the sum of all the leveled up perks (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be expensive, dependent on who you employ and what you do. This is due to the sheer number of perks that have to be altered to upgrade an item.

It is also used as a gating requirement when waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It also serves to limit how much PvP gear players can use, since PvP is limited at lower levels. The average level of the item is listed on the character sheet.

When deciding whether to purchase or sell equipment players can evaluate the item level. It's an indicator of the damage and quality. The level of the Best item upgrader can be used to compare items when evaluating a vendor's inventory.

On PC, you can view the item level by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the complete item description, including its ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are several theories about how the calculation of the item's level is made. One theory is that the item level is a number derived from a formula that determines the value of an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration the fact that different perks have different values, and also that gems in sockets add to the value of the item overall. This can result in a calculated value for the item's level, which is usually quite close to Blizzard's real item level.

However, this isn't the only factor that determines the ilvl of an item, since the size of the area the item dropped in can change the value of its stats, for example by adding an amount to its haste rating or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more ilvl than those from lower-level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item level upgrade can determine the fate of an item level upgrade for players. The game uses a variety of them in different ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the most effective." The stat modifications of a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then enhanced by a player's level.

Item upgrades add to that by increasing certain stats on the item. The Upgrade item costs are determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, while items with rare tiers can be upgraded many times, at higher costs.

Another method to alter the stats of an item is by affixing it. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and they come in all sizes and shapes. The affixes can be used to provide items with extra damage or other special abilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs), or to differentiate them by adding a name.

All affixes can be re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade item window, and pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold as well as items which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other options for rerolling.

In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can also choose which of the available stats they want to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The possible ranges of stats for an item are determined by the level of the item, however every item is guaranteed to have at least one stat within that range, unless it is a unique item or a God roll from a raid boss.

This is another thing that could be altered by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes or deciding which stats to enhance. However, as with the base equipment, this would need to be performed on a per-item basis and the item compare interface will not show all the stats that could be gained or lost at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the odds of finding items as well as the properties that appear on loot drops, and the intensity of the properties. It does not, however directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade equipment earlier in the game. This is more beneficial in early game runs because players tend to put the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chances of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance, which increases with each level of the item and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can then be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to grant an additional +40 Luck or to boost the Luck of the item up to 140.

Certain items, like the weapon that is infused with hollow, can also be equipped to increase the damage of any skill that deals damage by 5percent. These items can be bought in the shop, or they can be made using the correct ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to boost their chance of success or stop them from losing an item in the event that the upgrade fails.

The success rate of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased by so high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail can't be greater than 100%..

The Luck of an item can also affect the success of an upgrade. Every item has an average success rate of 25%, and each item that has Luck increases this chance by 5percent.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items therefore enchantment glints and other effects may be masked by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
