Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that mop and vacuum offer the convenience of cleaning dry debris (dust, dirt) and wet mess (spills, staining) in one session without the need to switch out devices. They can also save storage space compared to having two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot should be able to navigate well and have excellent obstacles avoidance. Look for models that have docks that let them automatically empty their bins, replenish their water tanks and wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It has a lot to offer for its relatively affordable price, and it's among the easiest robots we've tested to set up. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and a quick-start guide will have you up and running with a clean, complete dust bag, floor solution for hard floors and water tank in a matter of minutes.

The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can vacuum and mop well. Its mops spin at high speeds and can apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, which makes short work of dirt, pet hair and dried sticky spills. The vacuum comes with four power modes, a selection of brushes and attachments, and a user-friendly app that lets you select the type of cleaning you'd like for each room.

You could, for instance ask the robot to clean the kitchen and living room thoroughly, but leave the bedroom in its own space. The S1 Pro's front colision sensors and its smart navigation technology are superb, with the robot being capable of detecting small obstacles that other models struggle with. Its only drawback is that it tends to hit objects and walls at a high speed, but a quick glance at the cleaning history in the app will tell you exactly what it's doing as well as where it's heading and the obstacles it's run into or avoided.

The docking station has a handy LCD screen that shows when maintenance is needed for cleaning up debris and washing the water tank that is dirty. It's also capable of mixing detergent automatically into the water tank, by using a 600ml bottle filled with eufy's own solution.

Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop come with plenty of running time as well, with the mop being capable of operating for an 184-minute runtime in Quiet mode and the vacuum can last for 136 minutes in normal mode, before needing to recharge or return to the base to replenish. The app is simple to use and intuitive and lets you see all the details of the cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's top robot vacuum with mop vacuum and mop. Unlike last year's model this one has a double agitator in its mopping pad which significantly enhances its carpet cleaning abilities. The S8 Pro Ultra also has enhanced suction power, which allows it to remove small hairs and other particles that other robotic cleaners might miss.

As with the other two Roborock models I've tried the S8 Pro Ultra has a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology that can help it avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further by incorporating two cameras that can recognize objects, determining if they are walls or other surfaces. It can then change its path in a way that is automatic hoover and clean around them without stumbling.

This is the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed however, it's also the most loaded with features. Its sleek angular design is striking, and it only has three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which restarts the cleaning, a mop button that doubles as a child lock, and a home-button to bring the robot vacuum that vacuums and mops to its dock. The hinged lid opens up to reveal a 350ml dustbin as well as a 200ml water tank. The water tank automatically empties and the bin auto-refills.

The only downside I found to this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't movable. Although you can change the mopping cloth (if needed) however, it's a hassle to take off the mount to wash manually. I've observed that any soft carpet that the robot touches will come into contact with the Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, which could cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a variety of smart features that include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can set up and manage these via the Roborock app which is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to plan cleanings and monitor the battery's life. However, you'll have to go through a few hurdles to enable voice control with this model which is a pity considering the quality of its performance.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot automatic vacuum and mop robot and mop that has incredible suction power, sophisticated mowing capabilities, and innovative features. Its intelligent design allows users to tailor and effectively clean while reducing time.

The X40 is the first robot vacuum cleaner to deliver 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which makes it one of the best alternatives available. This powerful vacuum cleans up dry debris, including pet hair and crumbs. It also comes with a top-quality mop that makes hard floors spotlessly clean, even without a wet pad. The X40 is also very quiet when in operation with only occasional bursts during modes changes or self-maintenance.

Another standout characteristic is the X40's extendable and liftable side brush that allows it to reach hard-to-reach corners and intimately clean furniture such as table and chairs' legs. The robot is also able to reach under furniture that is low-profile which makes it an ideal choice for small apartments or condos. The side brush also automatically swivels downwards when it detects wet spots. This is a nice feature that helps the X40 keep floors safe from damage caused by the frequent back-and-forth movement.

In contrast to other robots that solely focus on one task, the X40 can do both vacuuming and mopping simultaneously or individually. It can also be programmed to avoid areas that have carpet and only mop hard floors, or reverse the process. It can be controlled by the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure smooth voice-controlled operation.

The app is simple to use and understand, and the X40 has many smart features that are simple to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, alter suction power and mode, look at floor plans and mapping, and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also keep track of its progress, and alert you when it's finished.

The X40 is easy to maintain and has many features that make it an excellent choice for busy families. The docking station automatically cleans the dustbin and the mop pads, then refill them with cleaning solution and fresh water. It can also tell when the mop pad is overflowing and alert you before it overflows, reducing the requirement for manual maintenance.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot vacuums with mop that is among the most expensive on the market and comes with numerous additional features that distinguish it from. Smart DuoScrub, a new feature in its mop, utilizes two mop heads that are high-speed to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a suction force of 7,000Pa. This is more than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also clean pet hair, dirt particles, and clean up spills and dirty spots.

The mops are cleaned and dried in the base station each time they are used. This is an excellent feature as it stops the build-up of odours and mould in storage, and also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a feature that we haven't seen on other robot mop or vacuum models. It could be a great way to keep your home cleaner longer.

There's a wealth of options available, including the possibility to schedule cleaning appointments and adjust a variety of preferences. These can be set via the app or direct buttons on the unit itself. The app is easy to use and has a lot of options for customising the cleaning routine. Additionally, there are numerous features that other robots don't include, for instance, the Clean Genius mode that automatically increases suction power whenever it detects dust particles, instead of relying on a manual setting.

The L20 Ultra is also one of the most elegant robots we've seen on the market, sporting metallic and white colors that looks classy and sophisticated. It's a bit heavier than the other two-in-one robots on this list, at 4kg - but it's not obscenely heavy, and it feels robust and well built. The mopping design is also excellent, and the double rotating mops work well on hard floors as well as in corners. The MopExtend feature lets them reach even 2mm below the baseboards.
