Both robots are adept in removing dirt and dust particles on carpets and hard floors and are able to maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart maps of your home that assist the i3+ to navigate and clean up efficiently. However unlike the i7+ or other top rated robots we test the i3+ doesn't have any obstacle-avoidance features and therefore it could be stuck on things like power cords or socks, and it may have trouble navigating across surface transitions like hardwood to carpet.

iRobot suggests that you clean the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it may encounter. You should also keep the dustbin and filter clean to prevent them from becoming clogged. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station and automatically empties the dirt into the station's dust bin. The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and comes with the latest features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. But the most important feature is the self-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for regular maintenance.

The Roomba I7+ can make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and direct your robot by voice or through the app.

In our testing, the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our runner-up and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces types including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, though it self-empties its dust bin which eliminates a major cause of maintenance and cuts down on the cost of maintenance.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning routines and move around the room, and even vacuum the area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. Once connected, to voice commands to the i7+, such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world full of cordless vacs that look like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model feels like a sports car. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.

The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces fade-free power for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system captures allergens and expels cleaner air back into your home. Its specialized cleaning head drives bristles made of nylon that are stiff into carpet to suck up large dust and crumbs. It comes with three suction settings to suit the task at hand. It swiftly switches from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum, and then back to floor vacuum robot.

This model has an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100 percent in 3.5 hours. It also provides the ability to connect two attachments and an Wand. This is a significant improvement over earlier Dysons that require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The V10's biggest drawback is its sluggish run time. The claims of its marketing that it can last up to 60 minutes of running time are not true as CR's tests show. This is a typical, not an exceptional, time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. It's still enough time to clean most of a home that's average size however, it's not enough to get every single spot (though a second run-through usually will suffice). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeable superior on low-pile floor carpet.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

The 694 is a standard robot vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have lots of money to invest in a robot. It's capable of sucking up all debris types and sizes during our testing, and it frequently goes over the same areas many times to give a thorough clean. The flat front of the unit allows to get into corners and along the walls' edges, which is a nice touch.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it lacks the mapping capabilities of more sophisticated models like our top selections, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It is prone to getting stuck on phone cords or furniture and will often run out of power before returning to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum cleaner sale is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694, as it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower recurring cost and has more advanced automation abilities and is better able to navigate its own. In our tests during our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and it cleaned up 86% of dog hair (on carpet). It did not do well in avoiding taller items like cords or socks.
