World of Warcraft - Item Upgrade

Item upgrade allows players to increase the level of equippable weapons and armor. This boosts the stats of the item and may also include buffs or rerolls on an attach.

It is important to remember that upgrading common gear isn't always worth the cost. Rare and exclusive equipment will quickly surpass upgraded magic and common gear.

Cost

If a player wants to upgrade an item, they have to spend Gold to do so. The cost of upgrading an item depends on its current level and type of upgrade selected. For example upgrading a weapon is generally be less expensive than upgrading armor, as weapons require lower levels of skill. The amount of Gold required increases as an item is upgraded.

Upgraded items also come with improved stats that can improve its performance in a variety of ways. This includes increasing its attack power and critical strike chance or damage per second. In addition an upgraded item could be able to provide extra buffs for its equipped unit. These upgrades can be used to increase the overall strength of a group or a single unit, and may be a major influence on the gameplay.

The items can be upgraded at any item upgrader NPC in the game. These NPCs can be found in major questing areas or capital cities. You can also find upgrades for items by visiting dungeons that have high-level bosses and talking to NPCs at the garrisons of your faction.

The World of Warcraft item upgrade system lets players upgrade the level of weapons, armor and trinkets. This process is very similar to that of gear reforging in Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor however instead of using the appropriate currency players must visit an item upgrader NPC to complete the process.

Upgrades to items can be costly, particularly when it concerns armor and weapons. Depending on the upgrade track each step in the level of an item can cost several Valorstones or crests. The cost can be prohibitive for players who don't have the funds, or are unwilling to grind.

Fortunately the game lets players roll an upgraded item using an additional tool available in the menu for items. This option exchanges the upgraded item for a version at level 1 which comes with an additional set of bonus effects. This can be useful to get better rolls on items which are already upgraded. However, it could be a waste of time.

Requirements

The process of upgrading equipmentable items such as weapons, armor and trinkets is to increase the item level upgrade level. This increases their stats and can make them more effective in battle. Time is a factor.

Upgrades to items can be used to increase the performance of your ship and gear without the need to upgrade them. While it's not expensive, it is an effective way to boost your stats without having spend a lot of time in combat. It's crucial to know the costs and benefits before making the investment of time or money.

Each upgrade boosts an item's base stat by a specific amount and also gives a chance to gain a bonus substat increase. The random substat can vary from a modest boost to a much larger boost. It's best to focus on the best-in-slot items first, since they will yield a higher return for your investment.

You can see the time it takes to complete an upgrade by opening your inventory and selecting a weapon, ship, or other accessory. The upgrade window will show the progress and anticipated completion time. In some instances, you may be able to speed up the upgrade by applying a Glyph.

Rewards

Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, weapons, or armor to earn an attribute bonus or to create a unique effect while the equipment is being worn. Some upgrade components have additional cosmetic effects. Players can purchase upgrade components by crafting, buying from vendors or the Trading Post, looting, or receiving as an incentive. Players can also retrieve upgraded items using an Upgrade extractor, or salvage with a high-tier salvage kit. Glyphs that are placed in tools for gathering can be swapped out without restrictions.

By selecting the item and pressing the green button with a a rerolling arrow the player can reroll it to create an upgradeable item. This alters the layout of the item's window, and allow players to select up to six items to "recycle". The item will be replaced with a level 1 item. Recycled items won't keep their level, nor the resources used to upgrade them.

The maximum upgrade level of an item is determined by the item's level and its quality. Rare and Epic items are able to be upgraded up to level nine, whereas common items can only be upgraded up to level six. The upgrade of an item is added to the base stats of the item. This means that they will not increase further after a certain level.
