World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses such as crit chance and PvE damage.

If the template for upgrading a weapon is %, it will increase an additional 3% of the previous attack damage every time it is upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item's level rises.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into armor, weapons and trinkets to provide a stat bonus or extra impact while they're being used. They can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors trading or looting. Certain upgrades also come with specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment with a slot for them. The item upgrade must have been at the very least upgraded to blue level in order for the component to be used. In contrast to other mods components can only be used one time; they cannot be applied multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascending equipment, as other items that are not ascended. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging gear from the ascended, or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade item, which alters the name of the item upgrader mod it is used on (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to create stronger versions of the equipment that require the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than would be required to achieve the same level of upgrade using normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades can be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed mechanic. They can be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or purchasing them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals.

Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-tier version of the item will be revealed during the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue improving their equipment, even if they're unsure of how much it will improve after a future reset.

Whether a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process can be costly and there is a significant risk that the item may be obsolete or even break when it fails; a failed upgrade will destroy the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also offer the player a bonus if they are they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, and include any existing affixes. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as possible to level 15.

You'll often see in the endgame that putting Glyphs is a great way to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade components which can be upgraded to level 15 and give significant boosts to your power on the Paragon Board.

Glyphs, the sole upgrade component that can be removed without restriction and replaced again, are the most common. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires the use of a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

After you have acquired the desired Glyphs you'll need them to be placed on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus which will boost the stats of a particular set of nodes within a radius around the Glyph. It could be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats, based on the Glyph.

Glyphs will boost all nodes that are connected to them, therefore it is best to put Glyphs in the most important spots on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For example, a Druid should try to place their Glyphs near their primary damage nodes, but you should also consider placing them near critical damage nodes, too.

Leveling

The item upgrade system allows players to increase the effectiveness of certain items by adding upgraded components. This is referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item comes with an amount, which determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each item level requires various components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be bought from NPCs, or on the upgrade tab in crafting tables. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used to leveling up an item. Once enough points are earned you will be able to claim your upgrade and get its extra bonuses.

When a player upgrades an item it is replaced by a new item of the same kind. The same armor will be upgraded to the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will have its own set bonus. This can be a disadvantage because it can make the item more expensive, even if you don't need it.

item level upgrade upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, provided that the player has enough tokens in order to do so. The item will be replaced with a brand new one that has a base of level 1 and totally different bonuses. This is useful for certain items, however it shouldn't be performed frequently, since it can use up many resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled several times to increase their value, allows the player to modify their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives buffs when the player repeatedly enters or leaves the water. It can be upgraded multiple times, each time increasing the maximum roll by an increment of 10. This item is extremely valuable in PvP, as a perfectly rolled version of it can be worth between 20 and 50x its value without being upgraded.

Requirements

The ability to upgrade items allows players to upgrade the level of their equippable gear--armor, weapons and trinkets above ilvl 385--by presenting the appropriate items and currency to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces improve the strength of their base defense and upgrades to weapon items increase the damage they deal and also increase their strength and dexterity.

All items can be upgraded a maximum of five times, except for hero gear that can be upgraded with eight upgrades. Every time you upgrade a piece of equipment, it is at risk of failing. The failure rate increases as you go over the maximum number. Failures will cause the item to go to its initial condition, which requires the user to pay more for materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the maximum number of upgrades.

If an item is not upgraded the experience bar on the bar for growth will be reset to zero. In addition the item will lose any bonus it earned such as crit chance and attack damage, and all additional effects associated with the effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or the speed of reloading). The player is able to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.

If an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that, should a weapon gain an increase in crit chance it will be applied prior to any increase in attack damage. A new attribute called Slots has been added to the item's definition and the value is recomputed every time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating and number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equal to its value. For instance, a common item might have five upgrades at a cost of. 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will come with a much lower cost for each additional upgrade.

Premium items have different requirements for upgrading than standard gear--for instance, they may require fewer sowels, but more minerals and erons. Regardless, the player will have to visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs mentioned above, each upgrade requires an individual amount of ingredients for upgrading.
