WoW Upgrades - The item level upgrade Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as important for those with lower requirements because of the requirement to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item upgrade used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

Upgrades can cost more based on the item level, but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for different currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool or armor. The button will display the item's next upgrade level in the event that there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot for the item upgrades and the current item level. For example weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currency types.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it brings some changes to the process of upgrading. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest level possible for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests have one usage and it's crucial to use them properly. For instance, it's a good idea to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to make. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
