The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention. It will leave your floors clean. Its surprisingly affordable price and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've test. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. As with other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they employ intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature a feature called carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it spots the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our first choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.

However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used when you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle however. If you need to, the mopping pad can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best automatic vacuum cleaner robotic hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performance autonomous vacuum and mop utilizes sensors that help it keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and ensure better cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This will help prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically emptys into its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we've not seen on other robot automatic vacuum cleaner/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxy units This robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our evaluations. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to sleep.

It's also a bit costly, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. If you're willing some more volume and some additional cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of advanced features that help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also has an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house based on how dirty those areas are.

If you have a larger home, you should consider selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice command. A stair mode can be useful if you own a number of furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be very beneficial.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It does a stellar job vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a reciprocating movement that is more efficient than most mop cleaners for robots that we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for better performance. The app also gives access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. And you can set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, however it is more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums that we have examined. It also has an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
