UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The handles on your doors get worn out with time and require to be replaced. When replacing them, it is important that the new handles match the dimensions of the handle that was previously used.

Inline Lever/Lever

The design of the sprung lever allows the handle to be positioned and angled to provide a comfortable grip and is suitable for all users. The handle has been endurance-tested to 200 000 cycles. This helps ensure that the quality of finish and performance is maintained over time. The lever that is sprung can be reduced to accommodate more locks. This is useful for doors with narrower openings where the cylinder is further away from the door. A shortened lever can also be used on doors with a latch that can be opened by the thumb located on the inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is different from the lever handles that are used on the majority of doors. The handle can work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two offset spindles or inline (pad). They are typically employed on UPVC doors with double glazing window handle glazing. They come in a variety of finishes and variations.

The handles for patio doors are available in various finishes, including White, Chrome and Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to rust. This gives the handle the best performance and long-lasting durability for its intended purpose.

All of the UPVC lever pad designs are supplied with screws and a spindle, allowing them to be installed on a new or existing uPVC door. The backplate fixing centers of 211mm allow for a larger handle, which can be beneficial in replacing a defective or worn multi point door lock mechanism. Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are usually found on uPVC doors, but they can also be found on other types of door. They operate by using a key to unlock a cylinder that then reveals pins which can be aligned to those in the lock body and allow them to rotate an revolving cam, opening the door. Euro Cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins, with both internal and external doors usually having different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is essential. It's dependent on the type of use your doors and handles will receive. Doors that are external, for instance, should be fitted with cylinders with greater security while doors inside can be secured using a standard cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders are available with extra features that can improve security even more, like anti-drill or anti-bump features.

A euro cylinder should be measured accurately to ensure it is the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to the other end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable to measure using the lock in a fixed position, you can take it out of it. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon may be vulnerable to attacks, such as lock snapping, so it is important that it is not too long.

Most newer cylinders have been made with anti-drill and bump resistance features built into their design. These features are designed to minimize the chances of an attack by forcing the cylinder rotate in the opposite direction. This can help to deflect attacks and keep your door safe.

There are cylinders that have been designed to resist snapping. This is an increasingly common kind of attack on cylinders which is where the break line of the lock is smashed with a special tool to break the front of the cylinder to allow the door to open. This is a much faster and more convenient method of gaining access than through a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the break-in which could make it difficult to prove insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is located within the base of your door handle backplate providing a sprung solution that returns your multipoint lock handles to their normal position after use. The handles had no spring, and would slide when the locking mechanism was disengaged. The addition of this simple element is among the most effective ways to fix this and it is also an effective way to keep your doors made of upvc from getting stuck in either closed or open position, as these are not always easy to close manually.

These spring cassettes were designed to be used with sprung multipoint locks. They won't work with handles that aren't sprung, and you will have to cut a hole in your backplate for them to fit. (Please look at the image for a more detailed diagram). These cassettes can be used as a replacement to damaged or missing cassettes on the backplate of uPVC door handles. They feature a square cut out which accommodates an 8mm spindle and are sold as a set.
