The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention. It will leave your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are great features.

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model) they employ intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture leg. The robots also feature Carpet Boost, a feature that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept in removing dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of a room.

It's still a good deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best automatic vacuum robotic hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and vacuum combo uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to pull back and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with different flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming it, something we've not seen on other robotic cleaner and mop vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

The robot automatic vacuum cleaner and mop and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that looks much like a Roomba model than the boxy units of the competition. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and more attractive. If you're willing with a bit more noise and some extra cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot cleaner mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, as well as washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It is a good vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with an impressive 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs to remove pet hair. And you can set up a spot cleaning that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
