Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum can keep floors clean enough to reduce the frequency at which you need to manually vacuum. Choose a robot vacuum that is well-trained in navigation, is able to clean corners and stairs, and that has a large bin that only needs to be emptied periodically.

1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

However, unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots we test, the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles and therefore it could be stuck on things like power cords or socks, and it can have difficulty navigating across surface transitions like from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot recommends clearing areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, including putting away any toys or clutter it may encounter. Also, keep the dustbin and filter clean to prevent them from becoming clogged. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or its battery is depleted, it returns to its docking station, automatically empties its debris into the station's dust bin, and then continues cleaning the area where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for about an hour and a half continuous use, and takes about three hours to recharge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line and is packed with the latest features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. the most important feature of all -- it has an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ can map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can control your robot via the app or by voice.

In our tests the i7+ performed quicker and more maneuverable than our runner-up and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces kinds, including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin, which eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.

We were also impressed with the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room and even vacuum a specific area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. We were able, once connected, to speak commands to the i7+, like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." It was able to remove the majority of types of debris and sizes in our testing and often went over the same area multiple times for a thorough clean.
