Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that clean and vacuum offer the convenience of cleaning dry debris and wet messes in one session, without having to switch devices. They can also reduce space in comparison to two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot will offer excellent navigation and obstacles avoidance. Look for models with docks that allow them to automatically empty their bins, fill their water tanks, and wash the mopping pads.

For example, you can decide to let the robot clean up the living and kitchen but go easy on the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors as well as smart navigation technology. It can detect small obstacles that other models can't. Its only minor issue is that it can crash into walls and objects at a high speed, but a quick glance at the cleaning history within the app will show you exactly what it's doing and where it's headed, and which obstacles it's run into or avoided.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the most recent version of Roborock's top-of-the-line robot mop and vacuum, is the most up-to-date version. Unlike last year's model this one has a double agitator in its mopping pad which significantly improves its carpet cleaning capabilities. The S8 Pro Ultra has an enhanced suction power that allows it to pick up smaller hairs and other particles other robotic cleaners may miss.

The Roborock model, just like the other two I tried it has infrared and a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology that helps it avoid obstacles such as furniture, walls, and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things an extra step by incorporating a dual camera that can detect objects and determine whether they are a wall or another surface. It then can alter its course in a way that is automatic vacuum cleaner and clean around them, without missing a step.

It's the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed, however, it's also the most packed with features. Its sleek and angular design is striking and comes with three physical buttons. The power button, which resumes the cleaning mop function, a button for cleaning that doubles as a child lock and a home button to send the robot to its dock. The hinged lid opens to reveal a 350ml dustbin and 200ml of water tank. The water tank automatically emptys and the bin auto-refills.

The only downside I found with this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't removable. I've noticed that any plush carpet that the robot touches will come into contact with the Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, which can cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart features that include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can configure and manage these through the Roborock app, which is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app also allows you to schedule cleanings, track the life of batteries and maintenance on components. You'll have to go through a few steps to enable voice control on this model. It's a shame, considering how efficient it is otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The app is simple to use and intuitive and the X40 is equipped with many clever features that are simple to configure. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times. It is also possible to alter suction power, alter modes, view floor plans and maps and control mopping settings. The X40 will also track its progress, and alert you when it's done.

The X40 is easy-to-maintain and offers numerous features that make it a perfect choice for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin into a huge 3.2 L bin, washes the mop pads, and refills them with clean water and cleaning solution. It can also tell when the mop pad is overflowing and alert you before it overflows, reducing the requirement for manual maintenance.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that's among the most expensive available, but it packs in numerous extra features that distinguish it from. Its mops have a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. It uses two high-speed mops to clean floors more thoroughly than the traditional method, and it comes with the highest suction power of 7,000Pa. This is more than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni, and it can clean pet hair and other small dirt particles - and also pick up spills and wet spots.

The mop is cleaned and dried at the base station each time they are used. This is a great feature because it stops mould and unpleasant odours from accumulating in storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. It's a system that we've yet to see on other robot vacuums and mop models and it could be a great way of keeping your home clean for longer.

There's a wealth of settings available that include the possibility to schedule cleaning appointments and alter a variety of preferences. The app lets you set these preferences or use the buttons on the device itself. The app is easy to use and provides a number of options to customize your cleaning routine.
