Its 8,000pa suction motor makes short work of picking up sand, dirt and pet hair. Carpet detection automatically boosts power when it detects carpets and the double side brush assists in removing debris from corners.

The mopping efficiency is less impressive, though not by much. The rotating mop spins at a high speed and is pushed down with 2.2lbs of force, effortlessly scrubbing up dirt and staining. I've noticed that the front arms extend out a bit more than other robots, which is helpful to maneuver around tight corners and on baseboards. The same front arms can also be used to scoop up larger pieces of debris, such as books and toys that have been damaged.

Another good thing is that the S1 Pro is one of the quietest robot vacuums and mop I've ever tried. It is quieter and doesn't make more noise when mopping or vacuuming. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it has to use a mopping solution that is proprietary and is sold separately. It is simple to install and works well. However, if you are buying this vacuum solely for mopping purposes it is important to pay attention to this.

The Roborock Q Revo

The Matrix Plus is a 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop that is, it can do both vacuuming and mopping. It's a bit old-fashioned to have separate modules for vacuuming and mopping however it does mean that you don't need to worry about changing the bags for disposables or refilling the tank with water.

The Yiko X1 Omni

The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive in our review. However, it has certain unique features that are worth a look. The X1 Omni's main draw is its massive dock, which doubles as the robot's charging base and the housing for two water tanks, a sink for cleaning, and a 2.5-liter dust bin that automatically emptys.

The base comes with a couple of buttons for control that let you manually begin a cleaning task, recall the robot or run the dock's best automatic vacuum cleaner emptying procedure. Hold down two buttons to turn off the child lock. This is a nice feature for parents who are concerned about their children messing around with the vacuum.

Like other robotic vacuums the X1 Omni utilizes its camera to detect furniture and obstacles in its path, and then avoid them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.

The X1 can be prone to get stuck if it is entangled in a hazard, such as a power cable draped over a rug. It won't function until you untangle it manually. This was a rare occurrence however it was frustrating because the X1 doesn't have a "stuck status" alert in its application.

The X1 Omni isn't able to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming mode during a cleaning session. You'll have to manually swap between the two, which isn't a big deal apart from the fact that the mopping pads aren't washed and dried between use and can cause mildew or mold.

On the positive side it's worth noting that the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who conceptualized its sleek, modern-looking base and mopping pad. It's a big departure from the utilitarian all-black bases of competitors like Roborock or iRobot. It's also an impressive sight in a market dominated by clunky boxy models.
