Path of Exile item upgrades Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and gear with new affixes, increasing the base stats of the item or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.

Typically items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, whereas objects with strong bases, such as eth titans do not vary much in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components can be slotted into trinkets, armor, weapons and gathering tools, giving an added bonus or effect when the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, found in loot from enemies, or obtained from missions and chests. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.

To upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the player has to select it and then click on the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade stats as well as the components or materials required for the upgrade.

There are three kinds of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, can be placed in any type of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions are jewels that are only available in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They offer the same benefits as jewels, however they cannot be used in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add a suffix at the end of item names. For instance the addition of the suffix Glyph would make a staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the case of upgrades to gather tools, if a player replaces one glyph with another, the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. If you replace another upgrade component the item will be destroyed, with the exception for the inscriptions that can be freely swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade process is different from previous versions in several key ways. Gear is now categorized in tracks, and each item upgrade can only be upgraded so many times before it is "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level up however, the materials needed don't increase as much. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a few items and maximize the effect of these items rather than dispersing upgrade costs across multiple pieces.

This allows the item to receive upgraded components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as Artisan's Energy. It will reset to 0 if the upgrade fails or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

After a piece has been upgraded to its maximum level, it will be able to receive the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The number of affixes available will depend on the item's type. For instance, an uncommon or unique weapon that has a standard base will have only two affixes. A legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade process requires a specific number of Flightstones or Crests, based on the type of Best item upgrader at its current level and what slot it is located in. Weapons typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item fails to reach its maximum level, the NPC gives the player the option to transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with a different set or upgrades. This procedure can take as long as two hours and cost the same amount of material. However it has a lower chance of success.

To determine the height of a building engineers employ an instrument to compare the measurement to a known reference point such as a benchmark or the ground's elevation. This is referred to as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method helps ensure that buildings are built to a high standard of accuracy and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling refers to the process of altering an item's upgrade components. It is a crucial aspect of the game that can increase an item's damage, strength or other attributes. This can be done through the item menu or by pressing the Reroll button of an upgraded item. Rerolling is costly and should only be performed in very rare instances.

The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, which can be used to acquire reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or a similar item. Recyclable items have an indicator of level that indicates how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item determines the amount of level filled.

Prior to this, some upgrade items were given priority affixes that made them easier for players to roll. This meant that you would receive the stats that mattered most to your build often than others. This included stats such as the armor's total armour, thorns, and diminished duration due to control or the weapon's bonus attack speed and strike chance.

This was changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chance of rolling for all stats. This could be a positive or a bad thing, depending on your needs and wants from your equipment.

Each upgraded item could have a unique fixed-value, fixed-value benefit that increases its power by a certain percentage. These bonuses are offered into the standard affixes. The more you improve a product, the better your chances of receiving the bonus of a different kind.

The game also includes a number of sets, which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are placed on the same unit. This is a good method to give the character more power without spending a ton of money.

Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them up to the same level with their counterparts in their tiers. For instance, the Immortal King set has a wide range of levels, ranging from 29 to 76. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can increase their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will show the item's attributes and the required items to upgrade it. It will show the item upgrader kit's characteristics, as well as the necessary items required to upgrade it. For example the No-mouth face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials, 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also look up the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

In general the jewelry and weapons have more value for trade when they are fully upgraded than armor. Particularly, for weapons that feature damage glyphs for spells or weapons upgrading them to gold is recommended because it will result in a significant increase in their power. Armor that has an upgraded appearance will also benefit from this as its defense value will increase as it goes from purple to gold.
