WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boost in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. A random substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities and is accessible at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.

Upgrades can cost more based on the item level, however, they are always cheaper than purchasing new gear. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any weapon, tool or armor. button, which displays a preview of the item at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item upgrades and current item level Upgrade level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. After the player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This applies regardless of whether the items come from an entirely different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut also, but is only available once certain milestones are reached.

Crests

Players have a variety of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

First, you should know that the crests can only be purchased for gear of a certain rank. Each rank comes with distinct upgrade paths. The use of these currencies isn't too difficult, but the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests wisely, as they are only used for one purpose. It's Best item upgrade to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can locate, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to benefit from the account-wide discount if all slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
