The i3+ does not feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or other top-rated robots we test. It can get stuck on power cords and socks and have difficulty navigating between different surfaces like rug and hardwood.

iRobot suggests that you clear areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, including clearing out any toys or clutter it may encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dust bin and filter clean so that they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or the battery is empty it goes back to its docking station and automatically empties its dirt into the station's dust bin, and then continues cleaning where it began. The battery's life span is approximately an hour and a half of constant use. It takes three hours to fully charge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model of the flagship line from iRobot and is equipped with the most recent features. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and -- the most important feature of all -- it has an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the main sources of maintenance for any best budget robot vacuum vacuum.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning routines and move around the room, and even vacuum the area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. Once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+ for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car that is amidst a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It is powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system traps allergens and releases cleaner air back into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets and collect large particles or fine dust. It has three different suction modes that can be adjusted to the task. The main drawback of the V10 is its limited run time. Its claims on the market that it can last up to 60 minutes of running time are a bit misleading as CR's tests have shown.
