WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item upgrading has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less valuable for those with lower requirements because of the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed forever and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item level Upgrade will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that are used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and other accessories. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for various currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. button, which will show an item's preview at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot for the item upgrades and the current level of the item. For example weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

It's also important to use crests wisely, as they only have one use. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear you can locate, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially true for items such as trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
