World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also boost extra bonuses, such as PvE damage and crit chance.

If the template for upgrading a weapon is in %, the weapon will be able to gain 3% of its previous damage every time it is upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item upgrader is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the level of the item rises.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets in order to give them a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. They can be acquired through crafting, buying from vendors trading or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be placed in equipment with a slot for them. The item must have been at the very least upgraded to blue level in order for the component to be inserted. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a type of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascending equipment, as other items that are not ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade may be prefixed or a suffix changing the name of the equipment with the upgrade (for instance "Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions of the item level upgrade using the smallest amount of Upgrade crystals than they would require to reach the same level using normal methods.

Glyphs

If the player has enough tokens they can reroll item upgrades. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a brand new one, with a level 1 base and a totally different set of bonus bonuses. This can be useful, but should not be used frequently as it could waste resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled multiple times which increases their value and giving players the ability to alter their equipment. Requirements

The ability to upgrade items allows players to boost the level of their available equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate currency and items to an NPC that upgrades items.
