Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to upgrade their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, increasing the base stats of the item or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the Best item upgrade in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Usually items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, while items with strong bases like Eth titans don't change much in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be used to upgrade trinkets, weapons, armor and gathering tools, providing an attribute bonus or additional impact when the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, or found in loot, dropped by enemies, or obtained as rewards from missions or chests. Some upgrades have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be above a certain point before they can be upgraded.

To upgrade an armor, weapon or other item in the game, the player will have to select it and then click on the Upgrade button in the toolbar. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade stats will be and also the necessary component or material needed to complete the upgrade.

There are three types that are universal upgrades (which include gems) Prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which are made up of gems, are able to be used in any kind of equipment, and offer lower bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions are gems that are only available in legendary and ascended equipment. They provide the same bonuses as jewels, but cannot be used in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add a suffix to the end of the item's name. For instance, adding the suffix Glyph could transform the staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If a player upgrades a gathering tool and replaces the glyphs by a different one the previous one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace another upgrade component the item will be destroyed, except for inscriptions, which are able to be swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system is different from the previous versions in a few important ways. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can be upgraded a certain number of times before they are "leveled out." The cost for upgrades increases with each level up however the materials required aren't as high. This allows players to focus their efforts on a select few items and maximize the impact of these items, rather than spreading the cost of upgrades across several pieces.

When an item is leveled out in this way, it is eligible for a new set of Upgrade Item components, and an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy. It will reset to 0 if an upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

When a piece is upgraded to its maximum level, it will be able to receive an affix to increase its capabilities. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the item's type. For example an uncommon or exclusive weapon with a base that is standard will only have two affixes. A legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade will require an amount of Flightstones and crests to complete depending on the item's current level and the slot it's in. Typically, weapons require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.

If an item fails to attain its maximum level, the NPC will give the player the option of transfer it to another character and re-infuse it with another set of upgrades. The process can take as long as two hours and costs the same amount of material, though it will result in a lower chance of success.

Engineers may utilize a level to compare the height of the building against a known location, such as the benchmark. This process is called a "level loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method helps ensure that buildings are built to a high level of safety and accuracy.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is a very important aspect of the game and can improve an item's damage, strength or other attributes. This can be done via the item menu or by pressing the Reroll button of an upgraded Best item upgrade. Rerolling items can be costly and should be done sparingly.

The game lets players recycle upgraded items, which are used to earn Reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item upgrader kit or a similar item. Recyclable items come with a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and cost of upgrading of the item.

Prior to this, certain upgrades were given priority affixes which made them more accessible for players to roll. This meant that you'd receive the most crucial stats to your build more frequently than other items. This included stats like the armor's total armour, thorns and diminished duration due to control or the weapon's bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.

This was changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for all stats. This can be either good or bad, depending on what you're looking to get from your equipment.

Each upgraded item may also have a unique fixed-value bonus that boosts its power by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added in addition to the standard affixes. The more you improve an item, the higher your chance of getting the bonus of your choice.

The game also includes number sets that grant an extra bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are equipped on an unit. This is a great method to add a lot of power to a particular character without spending an excessive amount of money.

Many players opt to reroll their gear and weapons, particularly in the beginning of the game. Rerolling can give players a faster route to becoming a strong character, allowing them to reach higher levels and progress in the game faster.

Sets

Sets are groups of elements that can be organized in various ways. They can have different dimensions, contain no elements at all or contain a single element. They can be used to organize data or sort information. They are also useful in analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways, such as by size and shape.

There are a range of set items available to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain items are worth upgrading, while others aren't. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets that offer high defense and set bonuses. However, weapon upgrades often do not boost the quality of the item's stats when as compared to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you have many armor pieces or weapons.

Set items can be upgraded to include unique functions that are beneficial for specific builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are examples of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement were increased as well).

Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them into the same level as their levels. For example the Immortal King set has a wide range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower level items can enhance their defense, and make them more competitive when it comes to damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will display the item's attributes and the required items to upgrade it. The attributes of the item upgrade will be displayed together with any required items. To upgrade the No-mouth Face for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, along with 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Alternately, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to find out the upgrade requirements for specific items.

In general, weapons and armor have a higher trade value when fully updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with spell/weapon-damage glyphs. This will result in a significant increase in their performance. This will also boost the defense value of armor that has a newer appearance.
