The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and it will leave your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are great features.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet They are also adept in removing dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a great deal for those whose home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also quiet and operates while you're at work or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to offer better cleaning. You can alter the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones through the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot automatic vacuum cleaner/mop to sweep the entire house with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuums that mop vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models from the rivals. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It features advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has 100% in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a problem in the mornings prior to work or in the evening when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however, it will cost you more and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum mop cleaner robot's dust bin, fills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive competitors. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner comes with the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to how dirty they are.

For bigger homes, it's worth opting for models with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home by using the app or voice commands. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have lot furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot cleaner vacuum to pick up where it left off could be very beneficial.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using a single pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to create the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for better performance. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we have tested. It also has an app that's less intuitive and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
