Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a common and essential way to boost the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can be a great source of extra damage or more AD or even more affixes.

Sometimes, however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade equipment due to their high requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They boost the performance of the item they're connected to. Upgrades to armor are available in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. Additionally, they can be salvaged from items with upgrade components within them by using a specialist or more powerful salvage kit.

The amount of damage an armored piece or weapon will absorb is contingent on the extent of its upgrades. The upgrade of an armor piece to the highest upgrade level will boost its ability to absorb damage. The use of more jewels in a movement will make it more smooth, and is often done to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. The jewels can also enhance performance and make a harder surface than metal so that repeated friction caused by pivots does not cause damage to the movement.
