What is an Item Upgrader in Pokemon Go?

A transparent device that makes certain Pokemon species change. It was developed by Silph Co.

Costs

There are a few expenses associated with item upgrades. The first is the cost of performing the upgrade. This cost can be expensive and is dependent on the new ilvl of the item and the number perks it gains. It is also costly to upgrade an item to a higher level (such as Explorer > Champion or Veteran > Heroic).

The second is the cost of materials needed for an upgrade. The items used are usually either Power Dices (dropped by monsters 21+) or Minerals and Erons (obtainable by completing specific Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor quests). The amount of these items needed can be found in the inventory of an upgrade vendor.

It takes time to upgrade an item. It can take up to 8 hours, depending on the magnitude of the upgrade items. The upgraded item's base stats are calculated using the new ilvl of the item upgrader kit bonus, perks, as well as other properties. This calculation determines the new Armor Class bonuses, damage dice, as well as other important stats. In certain cases upgrades can provide additional benefits. These perks are offered on a list.

You can also add other materials to the upgrade to increase the chances of success. These materials are displayed in a window above the + button. There are some limitations. The maximum amount of material you can upload is shown directly above the + button.

A Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version thereof, can be used to boost the odds of an upgrade being successful. This item is helpful in the event that you have a weapon or piece of equipment that has reached the highest level for its tier or is close to it. It will let you upgrade the equipment to the next level without risking it breaking.

If an upgrade fails, it will be reverted to its initial state. This is often an upgrade, but it could also be an upgrade. Save an upgrade until you are nearing the highest level for an item.
