The X1 Omni is the most expensive robot vacuum that mops in our review, but it also has distinctive features that are worth considering. The X1 Omni is most notable for its huge dock that serves as a charging base for the robot, a sink for cleaning and two water tanks of 4 liters. It also houses the 2.5-liter dustbin and the 2.5 milliliter dust bin.

The base also has a number of buttons to control the system. These allow you to start a cleaning job and then recall the robot or start the dock's auto-emptying process. Press two of the buttons to switch on the child lock, which is a nice option for parents concerned about kids tinkering with the vacuum.

The Omni Omni, like other robotic vacuums, utilizes its camera to identify furniture and obstacles in its path. It will stay clear of them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.

Unfortunately, this means that the X1 Omni could sometimes get so entangled with obstacles, like the power cord that is draped across a rug that it becomes stuck and stops working until you remove it manually. This is a rare event however it was frustrating since the X1 does not have a "stuck status" alert on its app.

The X1 Omni isn't able to automatically switch from mopping mode to vacuuming mode during the cleaning process. You will need to manually swap between the two, which isn't an issue apart from the fact that mopping pads aren't cleaned and dried between use which could lead to mildew or mold.

On the positive side, the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who conceptualized its modern and sleek base as well as mopping pad. It's a significant difference from the utilitarian black bases of rivals like Roborock or iRobot. And it's a welcome sight for a market dominated by clunky boxes.
