The robots also come with Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept at cleaning dog hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.

However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used when you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to remove and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross-contamination. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums it, something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum cleaner best vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the competitors. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning robot mop and vacuum mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with a simple mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device that could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.

It's also a bit costly but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it's more expensive and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum that vacuums and mops vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that let you get rid of your chores. The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we have examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
