WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.

The more modernized gear generally has a greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the Best item upgrade used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be visited at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

The cost of upgrades will depend on the current level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item upgrader mod will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that can be used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and other accessories. Players can purchase them from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon or armor. The button will show a preview of an item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot of the item and the current level of the item upgrade. For example, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currencies.

Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item level upgrade upgrader at start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit and a drawback.

In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a certain level for an Best item upgrader in an armor slot, upgrading other items to that level will cost less, even if they belong to a different gear set.

The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced also, but is only available once certain milestones have been reached.

Crests

When upgrading gear in WoW, players have a variety of options. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests can only be used to purchase equipment that is of a particular rank, and every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, contingent on the type or equipment being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

Using these new currencies isn't too difficult, but the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once an item reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to get their gear up to the highest level possible on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another important modification is that crests have one usage, so it's important to use them wisely. It is recommended to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear that you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially applicable to rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all of the slots are full of high-quality gear.
