It's also light, making it easy to move around the house during nap time and for travelling.

We love that it's made of soft fabrics with breathable mesh sides that promote airflow and comfort. It comes in charcoal or oak with a range of melange fabrics that will blend with most decor styles. Anna found it to be solid and secure when it was attached to her bed, with the legs securely snapping into the frame and the zips securely secured for baby-safety. It took Anna approximately 10 minutes to put together and didn't require any tools. There are clear instructions as well as a video, and a customer support number in case you have any problems.

This is one of Chicco's more expensive alternatives. However, it comes with a lot of amazing features. It can be used as either a side-sleeper, or a standalone crib that is suitable for infants from birth to six months. It is easy to open and close the side panel thanks to a brand new mechanism. It's also more flexible than its predecessor with 11 different height levels as well as feet that retract to fit under any bed.

Our testers loved the ease of access to the side panel, which can be lowered and raised at the touch of one button. This was an enormous help during night time feeds because it meant they could easily reach in and pick up their baby without disturbing them.

It is possible to lower the side panel by itself but this is not recommended, since it increases the likelihood that your child will fall out of the cot. The patented safety locking system guarantees that the side panel will only remain in place if it's connected correctly to the mattress of the parent. This feature can be very beneficial for peace of mind if you breastfeed and require frequent nighttime feeds.

The Next2Me Magic was easy to use and set up for our testers even with the lengthy instruction manual. It's heavier than other side-sleepers but it's still fairly mobile and can be moved from room room with ease. It's small enough to be able to fit in a travel bag when not in use, which is a bonus if you need to transport it. The only drawback our test subjects found was that the side panel did not flex like some of the other models, making it difficult to observe your child from your own bed.

The Shnuggle Air

The Shnuggle Air bedside cots for newborns crib is an excellent choice for an infant crib that will grow with your child. It's a crib for co-sleeping that attaches securely to your bed and can be turned into a stylish cot once your baby is old enough. Perfect for nighttime feedings and strengthening the bond you have with your new born.

Contrary to other cribs for bed like the Shnuggle Air is built with breathability in mind. Its dual-view mesh sides and airflow mattress that is breathable and hypoallergenic increase airflow to keep your baby cool and comfortable. A gentle incline can help to ease reflux and colic while the zip down side allows you to feed or soothe your baby throughout the night.

The kit for conversion to cot (sold separately) is also well-designed, with clear instructions and everything you require to get started. It took us around an hour to assemble and was fairly simple to put together. The only drawback to the instructions was that certain pictures did not have captions. This made it difficult for us to follow the instructions. However, it was a simple process and the quality of materials used was high.
