WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by +3. A random additional substat is also increased with every upgrade.

The upgraded gear typically has a more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of weapon or armor. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item however, they are always cheaper than buying new equipment. For example upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item upgraders in a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. button, which will show an item's preview at the next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and the current level of the item and the weapon's price is higher than bracers or gloves, for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. Players can earn crests through completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities, or by doing dungeons or raids in any difficulty to earn lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons that have a high difficulty for endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an item upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too complicated however, the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece of equipment has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest possible level for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests have one use and it's crucial to use them wisely. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrader gear you can locate, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to benefit from the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are filled with top-quality gear.
