I've noticed that the front arms protrude out a bit more than other robots, which is helpful to get into tight corners and on baseboards. Those same front arms can also be used to sweep larger objects, such as broken toys and fallen books.

The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot mop and vacuums I've used. It is quieter and doesn't make more noise when mopping or vacuuming. The only issue is that the S1 Pro must use a exclusive cleaning solution for mopping and is sold separately from the vacuum. It's easy to install and works well, but this is something that you'll need to be aware of in case you're purchasing this vacuum for the sole reason of mopping.

The X1 Omni's biggest draw is its huge dock, which doubles as the robot's charging base and housing for two water tanks, a cleaning sink, and an automatic vacuum cleaner 2.5-liter dust bin that is automatically empties.

The base comes with a few control buttons that allow you to manually start a cleaning task, recall the robot or run the dock's automatic vacuum cleaner emptying procedure. Hold down two of the buttons to turn off a child lock that is a great touch for parents worried about kids tinkering with the vacuum.

Similar to other robotic vacuums, the X1 Omni uses its camera to identify furniture and obstacles in its path and avoid them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.

This can cause the X1 to become stuck if it gets caught in an obstacle like a power cable tangled over a rug. It won't work until you untangle it manually. While it was not common, it was a frustrating experience when it did happen particularly since the X1 Omni doesn't come with a "stuck" status alert on its app.

Another issue that could be a problem is one of the biggest drawbacks is X1 Omni's inability to automatically switch between vacuuming and mopping modes during cleaning. You'll have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't a big deal aside from the fact that mopping pads aren't washed and dried between uses, which can lead to mildew or mold.

On the positive side the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who came up with its sleek, modern-looking base and mopping pad apparatus. It's a major departure from the utilitarian, all-black bases used by competitors like Roborock and iRobot, and a welcome appearance in a market which is dominated by clunky boxes and clunky models.
