The Best Robot Hoover

The best automatic vacuum cleaner robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as a dirt detectors) are both positives.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a good value for those whose home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also quiet and works while you are at work or at school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on for long and don't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're required to, the mopping pad can be changed for one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has strong suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance automatic vacuum and mop and mop uses sensors that help it avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically emptys into its base, and supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant, circular design that looks like a regular Roomba rather than the boxes this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive looking models in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite loud that could be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and look better. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and a little more cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and cleans and dries mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on the amount of dirt they tend to be.

For larger homes it's recommended to choose models with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house using the app or via voice commands. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot automatic vacuum cleaner to resume where it left off could be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than the price suggests. It is a great job vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad and a reciprocating movement that is more efficient than most mop cleaners for robots that we've examined. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app also provides access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with a powerful 8000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we have examined.
